IMHO, if u compare the Z4 SMG to conventional tiptronics on porsches, audis, VW's benz etc, it is a very good clutchless manual system... of cos there are better & faster ones on the M3's' and like the new M5 one is superb. It is an even better system than the lambo E gear one. My contention with the Z4 one is tat on full throttle and hard acceleration, changing gears at the redline invokes this gut wrenching mechanical thud tat sounds and feels so painful and rough. However, it is easily alleviated if u lift off throttle as u are shifting up.
