Braking capability

Hi bros and sis,

How do you feel about the braking capability of the F20? During the test drive i actually find the braking to be a bit on the "soft" side. Wonder any of the bros and sis here share the same consensus?

Steve, may I ask, what is your previous ride?

Re: Braking capability

Am on Jetta Sports. Is the rotor and brakes bigger in size as compared to the F20 as I feel the current ride more "jiat". Stock brakes by the way..

Re: Braking capability

if you feel F20 brakes buay jiak.... upgrade SSBH... stainless steel brake hose and MAYBE aftermarket pads with more aggressive pad compound.

but aggressive pad compound would wear stock brake rotors faster

you dun need ultra racing high temp brake fluids if you are not tracking the car cos these fluids must change EVERY year as they are hygroscopic....meaning they will absorb moisture / humidity and degrade fast.

same OEM brake fluids or 1 grade higher is enough.

No SSBH yet for this car....unfortunately

JS using the GTI brake caliper and rotor at the front. Can't compare... SSBH and good pad will do the trick for non track cars.

Upgrade to BBK then have SSBH already. :p

Re: Braking capability

BBK is for kerbside bragging rights....

nice but over kill....IMHO....if car is not taken for track use.

Re: Braking capability

Brakes is ok, but can be better... I'm looking or waiting for SSBH and a good set of brake pads... Then paint the brake caliper to red n dat will b great... Haha...

Re: Braking capability

Icic... Yeah agree that BBK a bit of an overkill since I do not drive that fast also :p Just looking at enhancing the braking capability of the ride

then just change to higher temp pads will do.

Re: Braking capability

BBK is an overkill. Juz change to Brembo Max (check whether available for F20). It is lighter than stock even though it is the same size as stock.

Bro cos it was a test drive, if you buy the car, and drive for 1 mth, you will get used to it maybe say 'wah bmw brakes abit soft but more progressive than vw!"

Re: Braking capability

Yeah definitely will monitor and assess the braking portion.. just my initial butt feel during e test drive.. nonetheless its a better ride as compared.. hope to get my ride soon.. today gg for bidding..

Re: Braking capability

I personally think that the break is ok lei! no complain about it actually... :)

I not even intending to change anything to the brake,
keeping it stock as I think it is sufficient to cater for my slow speed driving...
