Brand new car with bad oaint work

Got a brand new 318i sport editiion recently. However, upon checking the boot, there was very thick dried excess paint (~4" length and 2cm thick) near both sides of the hydraulic support. Furthermore, the spray paint at the inner portion of the panel near the wheels is unsightly. Are these common problems? Wonder how BMW maintain the claim of being top in quality...

Perhaps it was scratched during delivery and PML did a touch up?

Its just speculation on my part btw. There are many possible reasons.

nope it's more like excess paint flowing down from the sides and hardened. Anyway, will take some photos and send a complaint letter to pml

you should have just rejected it there and then during the delivery.

IMO, BMW original paint work is not as good as those Jap makes. This is also a feeback from spray painters .... live with it..... part of BMW package ..... :|

I just visited pml at alexander rd and suprisingly ALL the 3 series shown by them have this similar problem. They claim it's sealant and it's normal and nothing they can do. If u do drive one, u may want to check it out the location mentioned above. A big disappointment.... what a poor workmanship...all beemers should go forward and complain!

if you're really bothered by it, you could always write to BMWAsia and ask them if its indeed sealant and if there is really nothing that PML can do.

Its normal. All the cars are sprayed like that since 1998! Just live and let live! Anyway got money also cannot buy E46 liao.
