Breyton Rims

Anyone experience any problems? I am on 19 inch staggered offset GTS and the rims seem to have warped. I did not mount kerb or have accident with them. I discovered the problem while balancing the wheels. Pls share if you have similiar problems. It may be a quality issue. Hate to think what will happen in an accident if the rims can warp under normal driving conditions. I have used them for only 6 months plus and bought them brand new.

Where did you buy it from? heard they are some parallel import with quality issue but can't confirm.

Re: Breyton Rims

read somewhere as well that breytons have a tendency to crack/ warp. am currently considering GTS's as well. might have to do more considering now that u mention

Re: Breyton Rims

Running on 20" Race GTS for six months...no problems to date and loving them.

Got mine from Ray's.

Re: Breyton Rims

No I did not get mine from parallel importers nor is it a replica. Bought it when it just launched last year. Bought from a trusted and well know shop. Anyway just to clarify, it does not seem to affect performance much as the rims can still be balanced. To me its more like whether the rims can hold during an accident and whether paying so much for a branded rim, consumers deserve such quality.

Re: Breyton Rims

No warranty?

Re: Breyton Rims

How are they warped? You mean they are no longer a perfect circle? Just one wheel?

Re: Breyton Rims

Nope 2 wheels. Warped as in the outer most rim between the tires and rims when spinning can see the line is no longer sraight.

It is a question for every one isnt it? And to be fair, it is not quite answerable..
Any damage to the rims caused by accident depends on a couple of things : 1. severity of the impact 2. strength of the rims

Some good brands of rims hv been damaged in real life due to accidents but it still doesnt stop people from trusting thoes brands....it's partly because of circumstantial argument..

Re: Breyton Rims

That is my point exactly we pay for trusted brand names and hope that they perform better and last longer. So if a good brand can have some defects even under normal driving circumstances, I thought it would be good to ask for feedback cos I may not be the only unlucky fellow with defective rims. Hope some bros with the same rims can go balance their wheels and see if they have the same problem. Better to detect the problem and not wait till the rims fail and get involved in an accident resulting in more losses?

other than aboved mention possibilty, that also could be over the road lobang /road hump when you travel over.
Rim quality could be another issue, some light weight rim are produced by skimming the thickness so there will be some compromise.
No vibration does not meant OK that is why We need to send for maintenance:dance:
DO remember is still the user ourselve have to take care of it.

Re: Breyton Rims

Maintenance is not the issue here. I balance and rotate my wheel every 5000km and inflate them every 2 weeks, not maintenance issue definitely. I do not spare any expense on my ride. My tires are also not the cheapo type. Running on CSC3. If a rim cannot withstand going over road humps, then it cannot be used in Singapore I guess cos every where there are humps, shopping malls, basement carpark zebra crossing etc.

Road humps are every where in Singapore, that is why i suggest you slow now the car whenever it to clear them otherwise you will have higher chance of demaging your wheel (low profile tyre especially) better quality wheel does not immue you from that but stronger wheel are less prone to it.just MHO

Re: Breyton Rims

I started this thread to see if anyone has experience similiar problems using these rims. I am not about to debate driving style etc. I have used numerous rims WEDs SA-70, TC-105N, VOLK CE28, Gram Lights etc on my previous rides, no problems at all. Breytons is a good brand so I am expecting the same standard at least but sadly it does not seem so.

some of our Father is also China man? anyway this what we want a Open market ?that is why the price is so Cheap or competitive.
Frankly speaking Breyton does not produce wheel by themselve,it all outsource to othere and now China company is one of the most competitive or chaepest producer in the world so many of rim maker or Tuner has not much choice so have to follow the trend in order to stay competitive.
So that rim/Tuner company can concentrate on marketing and better profit after all.
Is just like some of our local companies are also following the pattern just do only marketing and sourcing the cheapest possible products.
To me quality always proportion with $$$$$.
one thing to be aware is some US products are also mede in China too.
I just simply want to share my view.

Bro yes quality always proportionate with $$$$. Paying S$3.xK fr 4 rims without tires would mean that they should be of decent quality.

Less you are running extreme high end rims like Hamann which is S$2.xK per piece I do not know what you mean by $$$$ = quality

Bro, i am just sharing my general view of this type of product not your particular one.
If you still in doubt can always check with the manufecturer for their view.
