can m5 rims be fitted in e60??

hello pll..well im planning to change my standard e60 17" rims to 19". i was really in love with the m5 19" rims when i first saw it...so did my survey about the rims.

Today i did called auto bavaria malaysia the main distributer of bmw malaysia.. asking about the rims, quotation of the price. but than they say that the m5 rims is not suitable for e60 and will not fit well:(

the thing is i saw few e60 in kl and singapore using the m5 rims. so i told them about it and they responded that it must be an imitation m5 rims ...

im really confused now....really want that rim so badly:( but knowing this facts just killing me. need more expert advice regarding this matter!!

i got the feeling that the guy in auto bavaria is wrong...im sure that the m5 rims can be fitted in the e60 it doesn't make sense at all but still im not an expert in this area so can't say alot

please help me...anyway i'm planing to buy the original set...got some fact about the rims

M5 Sport Rims

Front left and right rims = ( 8.5 J x 19 ) ET : 12 - offset

Rear left and right rims = ( 9.5 J x 19 ) ET : 38 - offset

Original BMW hup caps for each of the rims

Bridgestone Potenza RE 050 RunFlat tires

Front : 245/ 40/ 19
Rear : 275/ 40/ 19

Michelin Pilot Sport II (ordinary tires)

Front : 245/ 35/ 19
Rear : 285/ 35/ 19

please comment on the rims size and the tyre size....whether it is the right size or not for
e60??

need the advice A.S.A.P ...appreciate the respond ppl thanks:)

Re: can m5 rims be fitted in e60??

details here ... E60 Information Network
but here is the right part number... for non M cars
36 11 7 834 625 - 8.5x19 front wheel
36 11 7 834 626 - 9.5x19 rear wheel

tyre size PS2
245/35/19 and 275/30/19

you don't really want the original M5 tyre sizes unless you have 550i or 535d. Those rims with tyres can be hefty in weight but they are sweet at 200kph to 250kph cruising with stiffer sport suspension.
Don't try them if you still have standard suspension too naturally for 19" low profile and care about driving dynamically.

Re: can m5 rims be fitted in e60??

why do you have you to use 275 tires for rear? the rear fender of M5 and E60 is the same right.. hmmm?

and i think 275 for the M5 rim.. the tire will be abit in..wont look nice.. 285 is alright for non M E60s..

Re: can m5 rims be fitted in e60??

For E60, u can run 235 and 265 too if u like but wont look that nice
Best is 245 and 275
285 is probably a bit wasted for regular 5 series

Re: can m5 rims be fitted in e60??

I have just fitted the original rims without any problems.

However you have to use E60 tyre size of 245/35 and 275/30

The M5 tyre size will not fit with the larger diameter of 255/40 and 285/35

With this new size, will the edge of rims protrude out too much? This wheels are actually meant for 255/40 and 285/35.

Re: can m5 rims be fitted in e60??

i too have fitted my 523i with the m5 rims and tyres... did it in performance motors... they say it fits but what i find is that i am hitting the humps much more and even at low speeds. the front under-carriage get scraped by the ground even when hump is gentle. i think the agent in Malaysia is correct... they don't fit the standard 5. however if you still want them, either prepared to change your shocks to a firmer one or be careful when going over humps. when driving hard over bumps... you also get the under carriage scraped which is very irritating.... no i am regretting fixing these rims although they look good.

I believed hitting the speed hump has nothing to do with the rims. Did you change your springs? or your shock absorbers could be worn.
