Hi guys.. I have this issue or rather dun know if this is an issue in the first place..

Every time i park my e90 into the "P", pull my handbrake and release my foot from the foot brake i always feel thatmycarkinda bounce a little.. Is it normal?

Also like to know that is it possible to hook up my iphone onto the audio system which allows me to make or answer phone calls while i am driving?

Is there also another upcoming e90 gathering so may join in and learn from the rest of u guys.

Thanks!

Re: Car bounce every time after park?

because the rest points on where your P locking mechanism is, and where your pads grip the rotors, is different. U release your foot brake, it releases grip to the next point where the car is being held back, which will either be your handbrake bite point or your transmission parking lock. Maybe the damage is slight or insignificant, but if you wanna be mechanically sympathetic to your transmission, I suggest you put to N, pull handbrake, release foot brake, let the car jerk to the handbrake's bite point, then put to P.

This is normal, what i normally do when parking my e90.

1) Park car into desired position, STOP.
2) Put gear to N position,
3) Pull up handbrake to lock position,
4) Release foot brake,
5) Let the car lurch forwards or backwards.
6) Step on foot brake again,
7) Push gear knob from N to P position.

No more bouncing or any other sounds.

Re: Car bounce every time after park?

after toto park his car at east coast park carpark there at night, his car also bounce.

Re: Car bounce every time after park?

I do the same as racebred and delmosa81. Rodney also suggested this method.

Re: Car bounce every time after park?

But is this kinda fault or it's just how the parking works in e90?

Isit okie if I park, shift gear to P, release foot brake then pull handbrake? Have been doing so for e past donkey years~~

Re: Car bounce every time after park?

need to be so complicated meh? like trying to do launch control liddat

i usually just
1. Stop (foot brake)
2. Handbrake on
3. Gear to P

Nothing jumps. The handbrake holds the car.

Moving off:
1. Foot brake on
2. Handbrake off
3. Gear to D

Re: Car bounce every time after park?

this happens for any car. it's just different bite points thats all. The jerk may or may not necessarily be bad for your transmission's locking mechanism. For people who like their cars you may want to do an extra step thats all.

If you only put to N, but pull handbrake before releasing foot brake, you will also experience this jerk, but its fine coz you dont damage your handbrake this way.

For those cars whose handbrake is actually using the same rear calipers from your regular footbrake (like my audi) then there's no change in bite points.

If you dowan to go through extra step, just release foot brake gently or gradually so the load transfer to the transmission lock is more gradual and so less damaging. Or you can heck care totally, coz I've never ever heard of anyone's transmission spoiling like that.

But if the car continues to bounce after parking, maybe you should just get a room instead.

Re: Car bounce every time after park?

perfectly normal for me. Had the same experience when I first had the car. It's just a slight bump :)

Re: Car bounce every time after park?

i should tink follow manual should be fine:

Switching off the engine
Always take the remote control with you when you leave the vehicle.
When parking on a downhill incline, apply the parking brake, otherwise the vehicle could roll away.

Manual transmission
1. With the car at a standstill, briefly press the start/stop button.
2. Shift into first gear or reverse.
3. Apply the parking brake.

Automatic transmission
1. With the car at a standstill, move the selector lever to position P.
2. Briefly press the start/stop button.
3. Apply the parking brake.

actually it shld be fine but bcos even after u have engaged the handbrake, once u release ur footbrake, the car will still lurch forwards or backwards. I do not like to hear the clunking sounds when shift in and out from P, therefore i will eliminate all lurching before i engage back into P. No clunking sounds. :)

Re: Car bounce every time after park?

Overkill steps on something as simple as parking a car.

Stop then "P" for me (no handbrake). No bounce, no jerk, no nothing.
