Converter Lock Up

Dear sifu,

I was searching a UDM and finally i have found one which seems to be fairly good in condition from apprearance. The car is maintain by AB and is a 528 yr 2000 and has 150k KM on the clock.

But when the mech plug in the computer, he told me he found an error on "Converter Lock up".

I talked to the mech and also one of the local mech and both told me that is the prob of gear box. Potentially of overhaul is at high chance.

Funny thing is that there is no light indicator on the dash board showing of the gear box and the run damn smoothly.

Does any here experience this before what are the remedies beside overhaul the gear box? If overhaul, what is the expected damage?

From what i know is that Torque Convertor and Gearbox are 2 diff things. You should be able to buy a new convertor or a recon one if im not wrong. I don't think there's anything wrong with the Gearbox ESP when nothing was highglighted cept for the convertor locking up.

If you're going to overhaul ur tranny, i think ur'e looking at at leat 2.5 - 4K, within that region la. What i suggest you do is go look for a second opinion. Drop by BVO or Juzz 4 Cars to get your checked again and have them explain to you what exactly is goin on. I think that would be a better choice instead of just overhauling your gearbox which i think is not the prob. Both Contacts for the Workshops can be found under the Resource Page.

well said shaaz. changing the converter is a lot cheaper than changing the whole box... get the checked out right!
