Unlucky day, I was driving and was hit by falling tree branches. How can I fix the dent? Pls provide some suggestions. Respray the Roof Top ? Any good BMW authorised workshop that could recommend ? What abt dent removal which you may need to remove the roof insulator? Is this a good option? Appreciate your advice....

Re: Dent at the Roof Top

I think the only BMW authorised workshop is PML...
But there are many others who specialise in doing bmws...
For a quick dent fix, i would recommand Lye Design. They are pretty good at repairing dents. You can click on the resource page to find diff places which repair dents

how bad is the dent? can Lye Design massage it out?
you can try to file claim to National Park Board if you can show proof on these:
- location and condition at the time of incident. high wind or raining?
- the alleged tree condition... dead branches? do you see a lot of them on the ground? take pics
- write up and submit with all the details.
- NPB will investigate and if evidence is against them they will have their insurance take care of this.

happened to me a few years back at Cluny road..put a dent on my e46 320i roof frame. NPB paid the damage!

Re: Dent at the Roof Top

Thanks for the advices. I went to PDR at Capitol carpark. The dents(2) were removed (99%) using suction method. I was impressed with their skill and the cost was reasonable. :)

Hi jjyl, my car just got dinged at the door recently and i'm thinking if going down to PDR to get it removed. You mentioned about the 'suction method' that they use, does it mean that they don't have to dismantle my door to get rid of the dent? Tks in advance!:)

Re: Dent at the Roof Top

Hi Vincent. Done mine recently at PDR. Suction method is used in areas where it is difficult or impossible to place the flattening tool (kind of metal rod with a flat end) to push the dented area from the inside.

If the dent is on your side doors, normally they would use the flattening tool, access via sliding the tool into the window panel (from top - of course with masking tape protecting the window from being scratched), and push the dent out from within.

For roof top dents, then suction method will be used. They would normally ask if your ride is on original paint work. Of course they will inform you of the possibility that the paint will peel off, and to inform you of the risks involved. But mine was 99% close to perfect and paint work was not affected at all.

Hope this helps.
