Do we need to occasionally 'charge' the BMW Key Fob ?

I thought I read in the manual that for vehicles equipped with Comfort Access, the remote control battery is non-rechargeable.

However yesterday I noticed the comfort access does not work at all ( unable to do keyless unlock and locking ) but pressing the key remote locks/unlocks fine.

After plugging key in ignition for a while, the comfort access works fine again.
Does tis mean we need to charge the key once a while ?

Which series? Batteries on E-series CA fobs are replacable, very easy to remove and replace battery. Not sure about F-series

F series comfort access key fob uses CR2450 cell. It's huge. Cost around $5 per piece. Sony or Maxwell. Can't find Energizer.

RBB, what's wrong today? You forgot to show the angle, ambient temperature, etc for CA to work ;)
