As excerpted from the US forums, commonly called e90post.com, I felt compelled to see the kinda replies you guys are gonna give or think abt.

Do you feel other driver's treat you differently when driving a Bimmer? - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum - E90Post.com

Its an exceptionally interesting thread i have provided above and in no bloody way is it a damn thing close to the kinda ppl we have in Singapore. These ppl down over there really gives credit when it is due and makes you feel closely knit as same marque owners. This is not a thread bash to other marques and if anyone feels like doing so, take it somewhere else.

OK, shoot guys..I think i am pretty open to members with different marques commenting in as well be it Audis, Hondas, Toyotas, Porsche, etc. So that way, we can have a fair and reasonable judgement of our opinions in our local context.

NO OT PLS.

Most JDM racers will jio the pretenders.........

Re: Do you feel other driver's treat you differently when driving a Bimmer?

I guess IMO how ppl threat you on the road depends on your attitude and driving etiquette...
irregardless of what make you drive...so far I've met only nice ppl from BMW, as well as those driving other cars...I dont feel that I am threated any differently when I'm driving a BMW or when I am driving other makes :)...

Re: Do you feel other driver's treat you differently when driving a Bimmer?

on the roads no, at petrol station or car wash, yes

excpet, if i see a bmw i act differently, i wave at them like an idiot

Re: Do you feel other driver's treat you differently when driving a Bimmer?

cayman drivers tend to move out of the way........

honda drivers tend to smile.......

other bmw drivers try to recognize if you're from the forum or not.........

Re: Do you feel other driver's treat you differently when driving a Bimmer?

after i drive my car....

i start to waste money on mods... and again...and again....AND AGAIN!!

i start to make alot of cool and friendly friends from the forum...

i start to make bad frens who influence me go to bad places... bobby say one

i start to meet friends on the road....

the JDM start pushing me on the road..... (especially when im volk racing )

Re: Do you feel other driver's treat you differently when driving a Bimmer?

Mrs Gunship does most driving, so, these are some comments i gathered from her over the last couple of weeks.

1) that the taxi drivers do give way just a little wee bit more to her these days. :ultrasho:
2) She also says that hotel door ushers quicker to open the car door
3) Pump attendants at our regular petrol stations 'notice' her quicker and comes to her aid.

For me, i am just trying to figure out if the other fellow BMW drivers are from the forum... So if you guys and gals get a funny and curious stare (no offence intent), it could be me. Wave, would you?

Re: Do you feel other driver's treat you differently when driving a Bimmer?

I agreed with Felix, how you were threat on the road was how one behave while driving.

But I had one very bad encounter with one family who were driving Toyota Fortuner. It happen in front of NO SIGNBOARD SEAFOOD car park @ Kallang. I was so regret to had choose the lot next this monster. As I was tearing my parking coupon, the car next to my right were loading kids and other stuff. Minutes later their maid while loading the kids to the third role seats accidentally swing the door to much and touches my rear passenger door. I was cool, realised sure there will be dents to the door and continue with my coupon tearing. Seconds later, the maid somehow like my car so much, swing wider their car door and touches my car for the 2nd time at the same exact location. I'm so ANGRY & HOT, got out from my car and I pushes their car door away from my car body to minimize any further dents. I quickly check and saw the dent (my 1st). I confront the master of the maid, he wave at me to be cool and scolded his maid to be careful with others car. Then out of a sudden, his wife from no where saying, "BMW nia ma, I also drove one before." I looked at her, "what's is there got to be whether is BMW or not". Your maid dent my car, I expect an apology and repair cost if necessary. best answer from her, "Do you know I just fetch her (the maid) today. I told her, is not my business when or who you hired. Your staff in fault, as an owner you own it up. sigh! t he whole incident turn out to be !@#$%^&* for like 10 mins. later part I draw out my phone camera and wanted to take her post then post everywher, too bad it was night evening. Phone wasn't good enough to capture her B**** face.

lucky me few weeks later I visit capitol dent remover specialist. the dent were recovered 100%.

Re: Do you feel other driver's treat you differently when driving a Bimmer?

I have only had two relevant experiences, one good, one ridiculous. The good one was some guy in a VW R32 who pulled up beside me at the lights and obviously liked my 335. We were both careful not to engage in a race, and I let him into my lane when some asshole in an MPV blocked his lane. The ridiculous one was a middle-aged ang mor in some kind of turbo-charged Saab who decided to race me. He made a lot of noise but still got squashed. He was enraged, flashing lights, the whole works. Dumbass loser. Other than that, nothing really.

Re: Do you feel other driver's treat you differently when driving a Bimmer?

Many of you know that after I sold my E46 cab, I was driving my Picanto before my current ride arrived. What I have had experienced:
  • pump attendants are the most sincere bunch - same treatment no matter what car you drive. And yes, they recognise me even in my Picanto.
  • valets are the worst. Picanto? Park yourself at the basement. You want valet? $5 hor..........
  • nobody pushes you on all the Es. At traffic lights, no wonder stare at you with the glance "oei, ai race mai?" or "eh zao buay, BMW?"
  • some friends will ask, "eh what happened?" to which I replied "contra loss lor.........." then some will show true colours...... KNN
I am not saying the brandname attracts snobs, but try going places in a different car. Try switching between cars and experience for yourselves........

Re: Do you feel other driver's treat you differently when driving a Bimmer?

fastest Picanto in all of SG and some say Batam tho....

but it's true to an extent.. ppl do treat u differently based on the car u drive sometimes....

there WAS one nice chap in a Mini Cabrio , gave a thumbs up on the H'way when i was testing the 335i with the roof down

Re: Do you feel other driver's treat you differently when driving a Bimmer?

hahaha, no one dare to race that picanto, thats why no one looked at you Ken. I still recall that post in here about some picanto dragging from the lights, pricelss

Re: Do you feel other driver's treat you differently when driving a Bimmer?

Now is totally different story liaoz. Look at the smile on Kens face with RQs. PRICELESS!
Picanto for all eternity would have defeated his purpose in this life time for other purposes. :lol2:

Drive BMW go Zhang Jui got special?

Re: Do you feel other driver's treat you differently when driving a Bimmer?

I don't know about sedan BMWs, but in a little more flash BMWs like the 6, seems to affect some people adversely, so I have to be on my best behaviour.

In general, being in a `expensive brand' type of car (not counting exotics and rare cars) people tend to give way more. Being in a Toyota Corolla rental after a severe accident, people did not care and just swiped into your lane with abandon. But I enjoyed the anonymity of being in a Toyota Corolla, and there was less compunction to behave at your best anyway. You can swipe back, etc. without incurring too much wrath.

Also, you need not worry when you parked below Dragon Spa or Sar Lau and have forumers calling you, "Oei, where are you? Song boh?"
