Hi gents
I'm new to this forum. WOuld like seek advice on beautifying my car. I have a dec 99 E39. Was thinking of doing a facelift for the car for a long time. Hope to get some suggestion/recommendation on where are the reliable workshops to go and how much can i expect to pay for it.

Cheers

Bro, what do u mean by face-lift? Juz facelifting the lights to the 2001 model with clears all round or do u wanna go further and facelift the front bumper as well to take in round fog lamps?

If u want to facelift the lights, you can get the lights from Eng Soon for around $1200-$1300 and get any of the workshops listed in the workshop folder do it for u. Alternatively, leave everything to the workshop to get the parts for u etc.

If u are getting the parts on your own, you shd tell Eng Soon the year of make and model juz to be sure they give you compatible parts.

thanks bro... I was think of doing up the whole car or as much as possible pending the depth of my wallet. :p
What i had in mind ideally is the whole aero kit with monster rims but i think that will set me back quite a bit. So was weighing up what my options will be. I mean since the E39 is already the 'old' five series... do u think i can get any aero kit on the cheap?

Bro,

Really depends on how long u intend to keep your ride. If u feel that your car is a keeper, then u may wish to mod incrementally. Why not come join us for the mth end meet on 27th Mar (4.30pm onwards at big carpark next to Kallang Mac). There u will see M-themed e39, AC- themed e39, e39s with 16", 17", 18", 18" staggered, 19", 19" staggered. From there, u will get a much better feel on what u like. Hope to see u bro.

By chance bro, wait for someone to let go his E39 and sell the accessories.
If you are lucky, can save on spray painting if on same color code.

For the following mod(SGd approx)
M bumper kit (F & R) + fog lite - 3k
M mirror foldable (replica) - 1k
M steering + airbag - 2k
Facelifted clear Headlamp(xenon single) + rearlite - 2k
Lower you ride + good road handling - 1.8k to 3.3k (depend on spec)
Footwear range from 2k to 10k depend what you want.
And many more to go....

As for AC stuff look for AC Boy for costing.

Accept the fact BMW (Big Money Wasted)mod never cheap but feel good factor is there (at least for me).

Thanks to all for your in depth advices. It is really genuinely much appreciated from the bottom of my heart. I will defintely put it down in my diary the date 27th March. In the meantime, allow me to brush up on my technical knowledge first before i talk shop with you guys(dun wan to waste your prcious time). Imagine seeing you guys cringing while having to explain elementary aerodynamics forces.
Another thing about my E39 is that its straight from PML stock. Only added the reverse parking option then. Other than that, its just another run of the mill E39.
I like to seek another advice from you people. The car was bought in dec 1999(could u work out the COE, OMV or PARF cos i know nuts about those stuff) and that there is no more outstanding balance for the car. Would I be better off selling off the car now or keeping it for the rest of 10 years COE tenure? I like the car alot, but I'm just weighing up my economical options. Will it be more WORTHWHILE(key word!!) haha to keep the car or get the new one. Note, the deciding factor is $$$. I've met many people telling me to sell the car since the COE was gotten at such a high price. Correct me if i'm wrong, am i right to say that if I'm still paying monthly instalments for the car then I will be better off getting the new car since i will still be paying a similar monthly instalment for the new car?
I have all these queries that I hope to get an unbiased advice from this forum.
I guess you guys think that I sound very inexperienced about pricing of cars in singapore in general. You are absolutely right to make that assumption. Here's why.... The truth is that i'm just starting out the the working world. Previously, i was well sheltered from all these aspects of life while stuck in uni getting a education. And the car actually belongs to my dad. I'm just trying to see what I can do to do up the car or check if it is economically viable to keep it.
Hope to hear from you guys soon. I trust none of you will be trying to do a sale pitch to me.
