Re: E60 Decat

You going to cut the cat out and knock through? I notice the exhaust system is one whole piece. There is a few point for You to cut. You can find it under the pipe, there s a small dot as a marking for you to cut. Don't like the welding back idea. Please share how you going to knock through. And CO test will fail when inspection if I am not wrong.

As of most conti cars, gotta remove the 1 piece exhaust system down, open up, empty everything, weld up both the cats & reinstall the exhaust system back up...will take abt 3-4 hours to complete.

As for the inspection part, cant comment on it as its really sensitive.

Don't think it's a good idea.........performance in questions.

Slightly sluggish when moving off from stationary but great for mid & high end powerband.

With PB installed, no low end loss. And you will Love the mid high end!!!! The feel is like never ending till you see red line!! :)

Will a sprint booster improve the sluggish feel at low end?

If it is just only decat, stock muffler, the low end loss is minimal. Unless you upsize the diameter of the pipe from catback.

Decat & with a lta-compliant Sebring muffler will have noticeable or min low end power lost?

Re: E60 Decat

Why installing after market muffler will suffer low end loss? After market muffler provide better flow(straight through), and mostly will feel lighter pull off from stand still. It still retain the back pressure. Unless after market catback system(usually larger in diameter), non LTA compliant muffler also usually larger in diameter which produce louder sound.

Just decat, with lta compliant muffler. there is still a silencer in the center. No worry.

Correct me if I am wrong.

I think overall lose power.....but only a dyno will tell.

Go do a before & after dyno so you will really know the difference.

Will knocking thru both the cats disrupt the readings to the stock ecu, a/f ratio & fc? Or even cause the check light to be lighted up?
