Hi all just want to get your input on this issue. And yes im going to a WS soon so pls dont comment ask me to go WS !!

Car was replaced with new waterpump and expansion tank 3mths ago. Pass few days coolant too low checklight kept appearing. So went to top up coolant at night and check for leak the next day(did not drive for the night). Result: No signs of leak and coolant still full. After driving about 1-2days same thing appear. Been topping up coolant every 2 days for the past 4 days liao. Anyone knows whats going on? And no overheating checklight too. So im just confused where all the coolant went to? Leak into the engine? It seems that whenever i drive the coolant just disappears, when the car is parked nothing happen leh.

Lai lai share experience pls.

You have answer yourself that it is likely that the coolant has leaked into your engine. Workshop finding will confirm your speculation.

Best of luck to you.

I have the same problem. Looking forward to see how you solve the fault

Re: E60 Drinking Coolant Like Anything

I had a similar experience on my E60. It was a very small leak in my radiator. When I don't drive, no leak. When I drive and it heats up, the pressure build up will cause leaks. In my case, I couldn't see the leak from the bonnet view. The leak was located under the engine with dried coolant stains as evidence. A workshop should be able to find out where the coolant went to.

Can you please just change your car and get the 640GC.......

By the way, if it's leaking into the engine, easy to check. PM u now.

Mine was the same symptoms no stain only slightly leak after driving. If your nose sensitive enough, you can smell it.

WS found one of the cylinder end cap/gasket was leaking. Cost to change less than $100 all in. Been ok since

Re: E60 Drinking Coolant Like Anything

Could you please private me how to check if it leak to the engine? Thanks

Re: E60 Drinking Coolant Like Anything

Open up your engine oil cap and shine a light in. See if it's foamy? If it is (usually it wouldn't be), bad news it's leaking into the engine.

Re: E60 Drinking Coolant Like Anything

Check reservoir tank if any oil(do it while is cool), also can try using those greenish coolant to track the leak.
There's a oil exchanger for cooling the transmission fluid, that one also break down shortly when I replaced mine.. Hope u find the problem.

Re: E60 Drinking Coolant Like Anything

My e60 was also "drinking" coolant to the extent that the engine suddenly cut off by itself one morning. Thing is, it didn't show the error message that the coolant level was low all these while, even after the engine overheated...

Sent it for thoroughly check, or else you gotta change car in PML.

Wa, did not it could be so serious? Would ensuring that the coolant level remains adequate at all times be sufficient?
