Hi

Planning to replace the window film however was inform by installer that there is a risk that the heater wire might break when removing old film. Actually the heater wire of my other car was damage when replacing the film. The heater wire stick to the film glue when peel off old film.

I would to know if those wire at the rear wind screen is only for heating purpose because it is no big deal without the demister function. However I will be worry if those wires also function as antenna for radio, alarm, remote and whatever.

Anyone knows about the function of the wire.

Thanks.

Try asking around... there must be some film installers that have perfected the art of removing old film from the rear screen without damaging the heater wires. It may be just having to work a little more carefully and slowing and maybe using a heat-gun or hot-air to soften the old adhesive film before peeling it off the screen.

Go to somebody who can promise they can do a good job, obviously it would probably cost more for labour as a careful removal will take more time and effort for the shop.

It demisting function is a life-saver when u need to driving your car on a cold morning or night and the screens are all misted up due to the temperature differential inside and outside of the car.

In case you are still looking to change your window film.... I just found one shop confident to do it without problems. The are at 51 Paya Ubi.... level 5.

I was there to add a dark sunshade strip to the top of my windscreen this afternoon and saw them removing the old solar film off the rear screen of a subaru rex. The job takes two workers with one constantly heating the screen with a industrial hair dryer to soften the film's adhesive. They seems quite careful and meticulous. Cheap too.... I asked and he said it costs 25 bucks for the rearscreen and the rear demister heating wires would not be damaged unless it was already cut by the previous film installer.

Thank you for the information. Decided not to change the film. I can live the brownish tint even though not my favorite color.

Cheers.
