E92 M3 manual gearbox

Anyone has a manual E92 M3 who wants to upgrade to a DCT?

It's only been 2 weeks and I'm tired of the DCT. I still have on idea why PML refuses to indent in manuals.

If anyone is interested, I'm looking at the possibility of doing a swap. I know the pedals, gearbox, prop shaft, instrument cluster, rear diff, shifter assembly, clutch and software all needs to be changed. Think I'm missing anything?

Lol that is fast! By Swap you mean swapping the hardware... it's gonna be one big overhaul on a fairly new car!

Bro any chance you can just buy a new manual transmission outright? I checked the price at realoem and seems like only USD$4-5k+++ probably a lot more after u add in the other parts needed with the main transmission unit.. Let me know if you find out more.. i'm interested in going 6 speed too.

From what I know, if you can find a manual car interested in swapping, its a simple swap.

Or if you can sell the DCT box to replace someone's auto box, it works as well. Simply buying all the parts will cost about 10K, as some parts will still have to be procured from Singapore, such as the center console piece, software update and instrument cluster. Fortunately, for the most part its a simple swap. As far as I know, you won't need a new wiring harness or anything.

I haven't tracked the car but I know the DCT is faster on track. But at slow speeds and in traffic the DCT is jerky, hesitant and clumsy. Not that it's any worse than an auto, but what's wrong with a manual in the first place? The sales manager of PML should get a massive hiding in my opinion.:furious:

It must be a special indent order or so I heard, Have you updated your DCT to the latest software? I heard it eliminates the lag. The funny thing is, in reverse gear, you lift your foot off the accelerator pedal and the car automatically moves forward... haha

I asked the sales manager if he could indent it, and he said no. Reason being he's too afraid I'll drop the deposit and not take the car in the end. Apparently if it's the lower end models you are trying to indent, he might do it. Not for an M3 though... which would benefit the most from a manual gearbox.

I'll go check if its the latest software. Mine is the version with the new iDrive, so I would presume its the latest software... and yes reverse is a pain.. Not to mention it takes forever to shift between R and D modes.

I think the first batch of M3 were manuals. Quite possible some early owner prefers DCT.

To the TS: actually since you lilke stick so much, shd have gotten a PI manual M3 instead.. at least now won't be in this quandary.

yeah I considered getting a PI but some others advised against it due to possible warranty issues.

Well, I've gotta hold out for maybe a year at most to sort out any warranty issues that might crop up.

The E92 is lovely though.. love the car but hate the gearbox haha..

first batch of PML M3s were manuals, totaling around 10 units only, if my sources are right.
The girl racer mentioned above indented hers and had to wait for more than 4 months.

i know 4 people who have the manuals, but I don't think they'll swap.

i'll ask around tomorrow and see if I can locate the rest...
