Honestly, if the car came the way it did when I first got it, I'd probably notice it, make a remark, then forget about it almost immediately. You're right, it isn't a big deal.

But this is more a case of my car going in and getting repaired (even tho claim from insurance I still paid 1000 for excess), then coming out in a different condition. Not to mention I've gotten used to hearing both side mirrors fold at the same time for almost one year, so when it doesn't it becomes more glaring.

Its just one of those really minor but can still bug the heck out of ya when it happens kinda thing that I'm sure all car owners can attest to having experienced one way or another.

i see, so right side got fixed, left side is standard? get the left side replaced with a "newer" and "slower" mechanism. bet thats what they'll do

Nope, the side that got fixed (left) is faster. Standard is slower by a second or two.

Anyways, when I head down I will see what they have to say.

Thanks guys for all the comments.

Re: E92 owners, need your help

If it's really just 1 sec or 2, then mine is like that also.

But i got the E90, not E92. They close almost together but if u see carefully, the left seems to be about 1 sec slower to open fully.

My car is 2 month old and it's been like that since the day i started closing them.

It dosent't really bother me though

Re: E92 owners, need your help

ok sorry guys,

i though you were talking about the movement of the mirrors. If it is about the storing of the whole side mirror, YES. Mine takes about 1/2sec-1sec more on the right side. Its been there ever since I got the car and I noticed it the first thing when i was parking my car the day i collected. Dont think its anything wrong. The mirrors serves its purpose and the closing mechanism closes properly and precisely.

Why don't you bang tables and insist that they restore parity to the speed of folding? I mean, in a way, you paid for it..........

Re: E92 owners, need your help

Okay, let me give u the DIFINITIVE answer! (Cuz I was bored at home...)

1. Both mirrors are of the same length.
2. Left mirror is at a more acute angle than right mirror.
3. Taking my trusty measuring tape, from the side window to the left mirror, it measured 21.4cm.
4. The right side mirror is 25cm from the side window.
5. Right mirror folds 1.0642secs slower.

TA-DA! Grim, ur mirrors are fine and yes, I'm anally retentive too.

Yeah, went down to PML and he showed me a new e92 which had this "delay" as well. My delay seems longer than 1 sec tho, but screw that, I'm just gonna live with it.

Its damn strange that I only noticed point (2) and (5) after my sidemirror got replaced. For some reason I had an absolutely strong belief that they were positioned at the same angle and folded to 'stored' position at the same time. Guess there are alot of little things that people just don't notice unless you pay specific attention to it, seeing as how even the service rep couldn't tell me straight away all this is standard.

Yeah Azriel, the rep must have thought that I'm cuckoo being bothered about such things :screwedu: :lol2: Case is really closed now!

Re: E92 owners, need your help

Can't blame the service rep for not noticing these kinda stuff! :)

When I saw ur post, I remembered 2 things:

1. Hagus/AC left mirrors are slightly longer and are at a more acute angle than the right mirrors.
2. US cars' mirrors are not compatible with our mirrors cuz of the same reason!

Cheers,
Sam

I think if every service rep was like you, all car owners would rejoice :lol2: Imagine bringing your car in for servicing and your rep proceeds to educate you further on the length of each part, and possibly its actual weight as well! :ultrasho:

Re: E92 owners, need your help

How come my left/right mirrors fold at same speed? So its not normal right? Gotta go down to PML and ask them make the left side slower/faster :lol2:

Opppsss case closed liao...soli....kekeke

To clarify what you're saying, does that mean that your side mirrors reach the final 'stored' or 'normal' position at the same time, as in stop moving at the same time?

Anyways yeah, case closed, heh heh....

Re: E92 owners, need your help

Case Reopen guys!!

Glad to find this thread, my right closes slower than the left, now that's fine...based on what was discussed here.

Prob is, they fold in at diff angles! The right bends more inwards than the left when in 'stored' position... trust me its not perception issue.. Being an alignment freak, this's an eyesore..

Experts, advice pls! If normal then dun wanna get it fixed. Thanks!!

As mentioned by Azriel previously, the left mirror bends slightly more inwards than the right side mirror in the "normal" position. I assume this is what will cause the effect you are describing when the mirrors are in "stored" position. I'll check my car out later but I don't think there is actually any problem with your car (as long as the side mirrors function normally).

Re: E92 owners, need your help

Thanks grim. if that's the logic, the left should also fold more inwards when stored? Now the left is more 'ajar' than the right! jhaha..

anyway i'm going to live with that, not gonna do anything to it. And you're right, as long as its functional, i'm gonna give it a break.

Re: E92 owners, need your help

I am going to use a vernier caliper from my chao secondary school metalworkshop lesson days and measure the angle of folding of my left n right mirrors. If they differ by more than one hundredth of a micron I am gonna complain again.

Can't be helped, some folks just really like things to be SYMMETRICAL, whether its their clothes, cars, houses or women :laughlik: When they are not, the owner is stuck with a fairly discomforting feeling that something is not right and could be perfect but just isn't :)
