An executive condominium (EC) penthouse, with a record price-tag of S$2.05 million, was sold about an hour after the launch of the project on Saturday.

A spokesman for the CityLife@Tampines project said the sale was made just after 11am.

Channel NewsAsia understands that the buyers are a married young couple from a multi-generation family.

Channel NewsAsia also understands that the buyers intend to live in the penthouse with their parents and siblings.

CityLife EC is located at Tampines Avenue 7.

this is an even bigger bonanza for eligible speculators since not everyone with $ (read parents) has access to make a combined purchase (read young couples). huat ah!

Over 1600sqft is roof terrace ..... Going to be squeezy if all 3 gens live there ......

I dont understand what is the hoo-ha. 2m but psf is not v high at all. Got many more ECs sold at higher psf. It is just first time got such a big unit for EC.

I think that the govt has really lost the plot. ECs were supposed to cater to the sandwich class no? Those who didn't qualify for HDB but priced out of privates.

Why the f**k would the developers even have units north of 1.2 mio for sale?

too many scandals lately including the most recent AHTC thinggie, and like some say, busy on facebook so our KBW where got time to think about these things esp when its xmas mood now.

The spin is on ...... Originally meant for sandwich class ..... Now is sandwich class whole family.

That way instead of 3 apts for each gen .... Now 1 apt .... Can help create space for sandwich class FTs......and of course their families.

HDB can't let it drop too much, and neither could prices be raise beyond level that could hurt votes, where else to raise more revenues but ECs
