Engine oil

Re: Engine oil

Klaus Bosshammer has issued a full-page clarification on OWS products in current issue of Hotstuff (issue 64, page 150)......

Re: Engine oil

Thanks bro,
Just change to OWS 3 weeks on my 12K ride

Re: Engine oil

In short, this is what he said.......

(1) to the claim that Voltronic and ACT was producing for OWS before but stopped - he refuted that both are not related to OWS. He said "an Indonesian Chinese named Mr Hadi Agustinus" is behind both companies and that he has warned "all to be careful of him and his lies." Also he mentioned two salesmen "Mr Robert Khoo and Mr Koh" who "have gone out to customers with their "stories.""

(2) to the claim that "OWS products are now produced in China" - he cited the factory location of Voltronic and ACT instead, in Jiangyin, Jiangsu province.

(3) to the claim that Voltronic and ACT having "a production plant in Bubenheim, Germany where they produce 45,000,000 litres of oil / year" - he refuted that the plant belongs to "ROWE GmbH" which has "nothing to do with Voltronic and ACT."

(4) to the claim that Voltronic is "established since 1964" - he refuted that they are established in "2007."

In the clarification, he also mentioned that OWS has "filed legal action against the main players involved."

I am still perplexed by what actually transpired between OWS, Voltronic and ACT....... some deals went sour?

Re: Engine oil

Thanks for your kind explaination, I hope my engine will not go sour,

Re: Engine oil

Re: Engine oil

No wander feel no difference after change, my instine thought negatively maybe the workshop hand didn't do the change,

Re: Engine oil

hmmm.....my car felt better after i put ows na racing but its gone after abt 7500km.
saw the big hoohaa abt the ows oil last year back but since they came forward to set the record straight, i didn't mind trying the oil last Dec. marked improvement compared to the ordinary oils i tried

Re: Engine oil

that was my feeling too when the workshop used OWS. After oil change, didn't have the shiok feeling of new engine oil. After a few rounds, insisted on Mobil-1, the silver one only, not even the gold bottle one. The feeling after oil change was like WOW so light and responsive, like car suddenly lose 200 kg, fun!:cloud9:

Re: Engine oil

Glad to hear that after 7500K performed better, make sense huh?,
Change frequently, 1km to Mobil 1, 3km to Bizoil, 6km to BMW service centre, and now 12km to OWS, hopefully perform better after 20Km

Thanks

There you go Lefty,
Been using OWS on my previous ride sometime 2004 to early 2007, feel difference than now,

Re: Engine oil

Besides OWS, some uses Mobil-1 and Torco. Any others? How do they compare, or is it LPPL?

Re: Engine oil

I think there are some fishy details to this case, given (1) the unknown agenda of the accusing party (2) the failure of OWS in refuting certain claims against them - example, registered address, contact numbers, employees.......

Waiting for more juicy details to unfold......

Re: Engine oil

Usually only change oil once in 4-5 months, so a bit hard to compare reliably, a lot depends on memory of the feel immediately after the previous oil change.

But for the Mobil 5W50 used on my 4 year old E46, the difference compared to previous oil change was rather significant, it's like for the 1st 2 weeks after changing to Mobil1, every morning i would comment to my wife that this oil is good, money well spent blah blah blah, till she got so sick and asked me to shut up..

Just my personal experience.

After reading this thread, I did a search of the forum, seems that the Indon guy and OWS got a lengthy history, am really interested to know what actually happened...

Re: Engine oil

holy cow, been using ows engine oil for a few years now.now i have serious doubt whether they are as good as advertised.just had a oil change last month using ows turbo racing oil.seriously considering to immediately change to mobil one.

Re: Engine oil

This guy has also been going around posting the same stuff on other car forums (e.g. Toyota Club) Not sure if there's some agenda behind it or its part of the ongoing dispute as highlighted in the OWS page on Hotstuff.

Re: Engine oil

My ride is E46, three months from 4 years. At 40,000km, I just did my oil change last week with OWS 5W50 with engine protector.

Immediately after change, the engine seems heavy, so I thought need some time for the oil to get seasoned. After 2 days, I feel something not right. Check the engine oil, they filled 1.5 cm above the max mark, goshh.. check the internet, they said it is bad for engine.

Got back to workshop and suck out by R2D2. Now at max level, much better but still dont get the "responsiveness" as before. Engine feels dragging and have to drag the RPM higher than before...

Am confused now, whether to continue seasoning OWS for another 1k km or change to other oil such as Mobil-1, Voltronic...

Re: Engine oil

Wouldn't 5W50 a bit thick for your car?

Re: Engine oil

I am not aware about the viscosity till this happened.

what is the brand and SAE of the engine oil you used?

I have check the spare bottle of engine by PML, it is 0w30. I guess that's should be the correct one??

Dont know if Mobil-1 has the same 0w30 oil as BMW longlife oil.
