ERP rates at 3 locations revised

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) will be revising Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) rates at three locations after completing its quarterly review of traffic conditions on ERP-priced roads and expressways.

From 7am to 7.30am, rates for southbound CTE after Braddell Road & PIE slip road into southbound CTE (4 gantries) will increase to $1. From 7.30am to 8.30am, it will be increased by $1 from the current $4.

Meanwhile, for Northbound CTE before PIE, the rate will increase by $0.50 to $1 from 5.30pm to 6pm and by $1 from 6pm to 6.30pm to $2.

ECP (Fort Road) & KPE slip road onto ECP (2 gantries) will see an increase of $1 from the current $5 from 8.30am to 9am.

The revised rates will apply from Monday, Aug 5. The rates for the other gantries will remain unchanged.

The next ERP review will take place in Nov 2013 for the 4th quarterly rate review of 2013.

Fortunately I don't live in the East, but I've always found the rates for the ECP ridiculous. How else are people supposed to get into the city from the East? The only other alternative route is Nichol Highway, but that isn't very accessible for those living beyond Kallang, I think.

The most ridiculous time was after the Nichol Highway collapse. The ECP was the ONLY route left, yet they kept increasing the ERP rates. What alternative route were people supposed to take?

i pity drivers from ang mo kio, serangoon, etc who frequent cte to town ... even $10 a pop will still jam like siao

I pay $10 in ERP every day. Half the time I get stuck in bumper to bumper traffic. Worse still, sometimes the jam can get so bad I take 1h 45mins to get to work.

LTA should do $50 per entry. I m sure only falari and lambo use cte only. Can chiong all the way without jam.
