Any brus here have had an exhaust 'mid box' (pse excuse my spelling if i'm wrong) installed? Wat's the gain and the rough cost of it? My ride is an E36 320 and I'm currently on Hiop headers and SS muffler. Thx!

Re: Exhaust 'mid box'

Is there anything wrong with my post or have i used the wrong term??? How come there's no reply from the helpful brus in this forum... hmmm

Re: Exhaust 'mid box'

never heard of a mid box. are you talking about a catalytic converter? or more specifically a racing cat?

Re: Exhaust 'mid box'

I have a slightly bigger mid box installed to tone down the rear remus.. no diff in handling felt, just softer tone and volume from the exhaust.

Re: Exhaust 'mid box'

yo... really wish i could help but i too have not heard of a 'mid box' for the exhaust... but i just want to comment abt the new M3 (if that's what it looks like on ur signature pix...).... Niiicccee!!! :yummie:

( a little too boxxy but nevertheless...) :inlove:

Re: Exhaust 'mid box'

says its for racing use.. looks like it could be a race cat... but really weird location..

Re: Exhaust 'mid box'

Hi,

I think you are refering to the resonator. This is usually designed to remove certain frequency which will 'peak' out if not removed. Changing it to a 'more free-flow type' will indeed help especially the high end if your system is already tuned-up.

I tried to replace mine with a 330 type and it helps. Gain wise, probably you can fee it, but only at mid to high rpm.

Hope this help.

The gain by changing mid-box is feelable. Plus the fact that u already have a SS Muffler. But do rem to save up for other more impt things.
