Hi All Gurus
Im a happy new owner of F10 528i of 2012 make. I had purchase this ride 2 weeks ago and had been extremely happy everyday n looking forward to every drive.
However, i had been doing research online every night n had caused me sleepless nights. As my ride is at 113,000 km of mileage, i had been thinking if i should change my ATF fluid and its Pan filter (i know there are alot of old thread about this as i scrutinize the entire forum here but no definite answers). 1 of the very nice WS sponsors here had actually quoted me on the ATF oil n pan filter change but its not about the cost that bothers me at all.
As i had past bad experience of my 2 rides which had jerky n delayed transmission issues awhile after i change the atf oil , even the transmission are silky smooth b4 the change at about 100,000 km ( the 2 previous rides are Mitsubishi Airtrek Turbo & a Lexus IS250)
Now that my this 528i is 113,000km in milege, the gear change is really silky smooth for the past 2 weeks whenever i drove it. And i am really in deep dilemma as i had this "Sickness"...i kept having thoughts that the transmission oil is definitely dirty n black n felt paranoid about this as i had never purchase any ride which have high mileage at 113,000km before.
According to PML when i called them, they mention that the atf oil in my car last a lifetime...but i will never believe that as i am sure no oil last forever...but my dilemma is, with my previous rides bad experience of transmission issues after i change the atf oil....should i still go ahead n change my this 528i atf oil even the gear change are silky smooth now. I intend to drive this ride for another 3 n half years (approx 120,000km more before i scrap it)
I will never go back to my old mechanics as i had consulted them about atf oil..the old mechanics that i use is a general car workshop...he told me that bmw f10 atf oil change is as simple as any other jap car...just drain out old oil, and pour in new oil..as simple as that! But after i read about the ZF Procedures online, i am sure he doesnt knows anything about this BMW ZF procedures...as i approach him to show him that for bmw f10, there is a zf procedures to follow? And the old mechanic says "NO" and he even says those ZF procedures are AngMo type of nonsense..( after hearing his comment, i confirm he knows nothing about bmw)
From my previous bad experience of my 2 rides down after ATF oil change...i am wondering if any Professional workshop here are able to give me a solid advise n give me good assurance of the Transmission will be ok after the atf oil change..as the transimission for now is really silky smooth.
I am wondering..Can any WS drain out abit of my present atf oil to see the color of oil? Is it black n burnt? Or can they drain out the oil n keep it for me...in case after the new oil change...the transmission are not smooth, can i drain out the new oil n pour the old oil back in again ( sorry im a layman).. or is there anyway to diagnose the gearbox before the atf oil change to know if the current silky smooth gearbox condition requires a atf oil change?
I really hope to get over this...btw, i am not stingy over the atf oil change cost.. i am just afraid after my previous 2 bad experience...spend money for atf oil change n buy more bigger problem
Hope i can see some light soon..haiz...really sleepness night again...
