F10 auto trunk kick function failure

Has anyone experience this problem. I went to pML to get have the M body kit fitted yesterday and was informed the above function has failed. I am certain it was still functioning normal before I sent in as I was still using the function last couple days. The technician at PML claimed it could be due to the reprogramming of the trunk button auto close function at Elbest, however this was done more than a month ago and I had no issue. Checked with Max and was told these are separate functions altogether, and I am also convinced by his explanation. He has programmed many f10 without any complications. Technician at PML also warned the diagnostic system may 'lock up' the car ecu and resulting total shutdown should the diagnostic picks up discrepancy in the car's default program. What a nightmare if this is indeed accurate.

"Technician at PML also warned the diagnostic system may 'lock up' the car ecu and resulting total shutdown should the diagnostic picks up discrepancy in the car's default program"

Looking at what was reply from the above it does not made logical sense as coding can also be done with the same on Auto Start/Stop function which is aligned with SIB/TSB: BMW will reprogram Auto Start-Stop to default to last user mode SIB 12 15 12

So does it mean that if the car was manually coded with any kind of change we are screwed.

that was the implication i got, and i totally agree with you that it doesn't make much sense. not sure if pml is just being a real a**, they are not willing to 'unlock' these built on features in our cars for a small cost, but yet they fret when independent workshops do it...what a pain!

Re: F10 auto trunk kick function failure

Frankly I got this function stock from my car but I still haven't really figure it out how to use it....

So have only manage to get it work once the rest of the time. Manual open...

Re: F10 auto trunk kick function failure

after some testing, seems like the function is not faulty after all. the current assessment is pointing towards the sensor. as the m-bodykit's rear spoiler/diffuser is possibly deeper than the original, it may cover the sensor fitted underneath the chassis hence affecting it. can i check how many bros here have their 5 series with comfort access fitted with M-bodykit experienced the same problem?

Re: F10 auto trunk kick function failure

got my car back from PML, finally managed to fix the problem. apparently its some wiring problem and i suspect they probably accidentally 'touched' it when fitting the M-body kit. all is well now and i have got Max to enable the button trunk close function again. apologies to Max if my earlier thread may have caused some concern among members about his works. hope this clarifies.

I have similar issues I could not figure how to get it to work reliably too. Today I look like a clown sticking my foot and waving under my F10's rear. I was wearing slippers though. Basket, my car see me no up!
