F10 AutoHold

How many of you drive with AutoHold on? Been using it the past week and found it pretty convenient. It almost change the way you drive auto cars and initially I kept stepping on the brakes before moving off but now a little more used to it. Only thing is this slight creaking sound as you step on the gas to move off as if the brakes are rubbing before releasing. Wonder if if will wear out the brakes faster.

Re: F10 AutoHold

while on the move is ok. But when comes to reverse parking, Halfway through always dead lock, I use it on the move and off it during parking

F10 AutoHold

I use it when I get lazy stepping on brakes... or sometimes in heavy traffic whenever I remember.

Re: F10 AutoHold

After using it too long. Will tend to forget to step on the brake then will knock into the front vehicle.

So cannot over rely on it.

Re: F10 AutoHold

True. It can happen. I leave sufficient gap infront.

When I was new to this, one day while parking, I thought car already bang - but found it was Autohold that stopped with a minor jerk

Re: F10 AutoHold

I find it ok, but it is only good for traffic lights and very very bad traffic. For crawling jams on expressways, I like to keep a distance from the front car and try avoid braking to a complete stop.

Re: F10 AutoHold

Yeah , Auto Hold is useful more for heavy traffic condition and for me I usually Off it while parking my car (my preference).

Ok seems like quite a number of you make use of this feature. I found it really great for traffic lights but not in bumper to bumper crawling traffic as the creeping function is quite useful. Having said that, I find the AutoH feature very intelligent in that it will engage when the car has stopped completely. Even if there is slight movement or extremely slow crawl, it will not engage. In night time driving, I thought with AutoH engaged and taking off my foot from the brake pedal, the brake lights would go out but seems they are still lighted until you step on the gas and move off.

As I said, there is always this creaking sound as you move off like your brake pads are rubbing against the discs.

In my younger days... this feature would have been really good at traffic lights.....

I should add that you must make sure the car has come to a complete halt and the AutoH lights up before taking your foot off the pedal. Failure to do so will result in your car still "creeping" forward and if too close to the car in front, you know what happens.

Re: F10 AutoHold

I forgot my car had this function until I saw this thread!

Haha...this is the result of a car having so many features. I'm waiting for a day where I can say "Open boot!" and the boot will open:)!

I read that the new Mercedes A Class has Siri incorporated.
