F10 Steering "Feeling"

Hi Bros,
Wonder any of you ever have this feeling when driving, you seem to be able to feel the road roughness on the steering wheel? At first I thought that my wheels are going botak (41,000km) but after changing the 4 tyres to the same Pirelli run flat tyres, the feel is still there. Only recently then I found that the car steering wheel has this feel. Or the car is getting old (1 1/2 yrs old). Thanks in advance.

Re: F10 Steering "Feeling"

If one day we cannot feel anything on the steering, that's the end of BMW.... davidtch say one.....:)

Check your tyre air pressure? When was the last time you pumped, was it recommended pressure and was there a diff when you just pumped vs. 2 weeks later?

Unfortunately that's how my F10 steering feels. The electric steering really killed the "sheer driving pleasure".

Lifeless.

I thought that's normal when that stretch of road is rough? For me it only happens on certain rough roads.

Re: F10 Steering "Feeling"

One of the things I love about BMWs is the ability to feel the road from its steering wheel. If BMW looses that, it will also end my relationship with this brand.

Exactly. But unfortunately, it's slowly going down that road....

Re: F10 Steering "Feeling"

are you on runflat? i love the current steering feel

previously e90 + kw coilover + 19" wheel, the steering is sibei heavy ... imagine f10 big ass car
now f10 + kw coilover + 19" PSS, in normal mode ... just nice ... steering not heavy but still can feel the road and cup corner crazily unlike civic or toyota kind of feather light electric steering. once awhile turn on sports mode ... shiok > steering tighten & gear rev higher. and those like heavy steering feel ... add on M5 front ARB ... steam

when i test drive the car .... oem suspension + 17" run flat ... steering really no feel ...

Re: F10 Steering "Feeling"

I feel good steering my F10 out of hotel carpark on Saturday night n seeing long queue at taxi stand after wedding dinner

Re: F10 Steering "Feeling"

When I first got my F10 with stock suspension and stock 18", I was so pissed at the car. It drove like a road boat, floaty and bouncy. And there is no steering feeling. I almost wanted to sell the car because I hated every minute driving it and don't feel like driving it fast.

Then upgraded to kw + 19" + m5 sway bar. Now much better in terms of handling, but steering feel not much better. The only thing that made the steering feel slightly better was the 19" wheel. I will try non run flats next.

Re: F10 Steering "Feeling"

i read somewhere that sway bars are not good thing to have. must get the anti-sway ones.
