F20 Excessive Breakdust on wheels

Hi Guys,
i noticed that my car has excessive breakdust on its rims. the cleaned rims did not last for 3 days and it was only used to get to the office. it was a daily maximum distance of 30 KM with speed not more then 90KM and no hard breaking. i wonder if my break pads are extra soft or spoiled? my previous ride could easily last 1.5 to 2 weeks before showing breakdust on the wheels. please share your views on this matter.

F20 Excessive Breakdust on wheels

It is normal .. :)

Re: F20 Excessive Breakdust on wheels

Normal for stock pads. My prevoius ride, a Volvo S40 was even worst until i replaced them with an aftermarket one.

Re: F20 Excessive Breakdust on wheels

its common..
all my belowmentioned cars all have such situations..

oh.. and the X1 too..

Re: F20 Excessive Breakdust on wheels

that's why i get matt black rims... solely for this purpose... at least that's the reason i give to my wife...

Re: F20 Excessive Breakdust on wheels

There are 2 choice for you, either brake pad or rotor wear out faster.

Re: F20 Excessive Breakdust on wheels

Few things:

(1) scenario within norm
(2) solutions - low dust pads, or BBK
(3) protection - Sonax Nano Wheel Coat
(4) spellcheck - brakes, not breaks

Re: F20 Excessive Breakdust on wheels

ur car is new? new brake pads will have alot of brake dust initially. after "breaking in" for about two months or so, it will be ok.

I also got the same thing. I bet when you read Kenntona's post, u only looked at the signature

Hmmm i have read on a certain BMW magazine the this product works well
'Armor Wheel Protectant'

I purchased it from Autobacs for a discounted price and used it... unfortunately i was away even before i can test it personally. I will update all when i am back to sg and have tested it.

Hope this helps :)

No need to test, it works brilliantly but lasts only about 2 weeks.

U meant Armourall Wheel Protectant right?

Well I m currently still using it. Works well. Remember, brake dust will still be on the rims but it does not actually stick on the metal/alloy, but after long usage the brake dust and road grime will still be on the rims, however, it is damn easy to wash away with just plain water. Enjoy it as it makes maintenance so much easier.

Am always seeking better brands :)

Nice. FR for comparison with Armourall yea

When my can is finished, am trying out either Autoglym or SONAX wheel protectant and see how it goes too.

Re: F20 Excessive Breakdust on wheels

Carbon Ceramic brake pad will reduce a lot of the brake dust issue... however it does not stop the road grime issue, LMAO!
