Dear All,

i have got a Dec 13 F30, 1.6L recently
1) i discover that engine tmp is hovering around these 105 to close to 120 Degree , during drive this is normal?
2) i discover black residue at the tail pipe , this is normal?
3) for Air Con circulation - Do you sent to "A" , "M" or dont set at all?
3) Anyone using RaceChip? i am looking to buy a used one.
4) Anyone can recommend a place to get Used Original BMW Rims?

Thanks for responding,

Mtoh

1. N13 engine is around that range. If it hits 120 constantly, then it’s not ok.

2. Do u do lots of cold starts? And drive short distances?

3. Depending on your needs.

Firstly, congratulations on your new F30! I only know some info that might help with your queries - hope that's enough.
  1. Yes - perfectly normal to be between that range. As what @whiskie mentioned as well, if it stays at 120 too long, then you might have to check on the radiator.
  2. Can you describe the "residue"? What's the texture like? Is it sooty, viscous, or oily?
  3. This is entirely a preference thing, so what is your preference? Seeing the question, however, I am guessing that you might be asking what each mode does.
    • No light - in this mode, outside air is channeled into the cabin all the time.
    • Light at A (aka Automatic) - in this mode, your car monitor the particulate matter in the air channeled into the cabin, automatically closes the outside air vents when it detects heavy particulate matter in the air, and reopens them when it detects that the air is clear.
    • Light at M (aka Manual) - in this mode, all outside air vents are closed and no outside air is channeled into the cabin.
  4. You can try any of our sponsor workshops listed in the Tyres & Rims section.
Hope that helped.

hi tezza the residue is sooty.
ya now i am thinking of upgrading to NBT with navigation.

Sooty residue should be perfectly normal unless it's too excessive, ie black soot even at idle.

Erm - good for you, but I'm not sure how it ties with your 4 questions.
