Former Speaker of Parliament Michael Palmer will be joining law firm Lawrence Quahe & Woo.
Mr Palmer was formerly with Harry Elias Partnership.
Mr Quahe said Mr Palmer will be a significant addition to the firm's capability in serving the regional needs of its clients, in particular Indonesia.
He added that more importantly, Mr Palmer will enhance the firm's capacity to provide litigation services in complex cross-border cases, without the burden of large firm conflict of interest restrictions.
Mr Palmer told Channel NewsAsia he is happy to join the firm started by his friends and is looking forward to developing his practice with his new partners.
The former PAP MP for Punggol East quit politics in December after he confessed to having an extra-marital affair.
