Front Windscreen Replacement. My experience......

Driving my E90 down Bukit Timah last Saturday. Kena a stone fallen from Lori . A star-chip about 2.5cm long . Over next few days, it grew to 10 cm long.:yikess:

Made a appointment with AXA authorized workshop XXX in Ubi 3, (the only one specialized in repair and replace Windscreen, so you guess) because they could replace it in half-day with all original parts. PML wanted 2 days, so I made my choice with XXX.

Went this morning, about 9 am, they said they need to indent the windscreen and recommended solar-film replacement, $250 Cool Rite and $120 generic brand. I called my existing film vendor , they said $180 (cool n lite) so I decided $250 Cool Rite to save me trouble of running about.

Since XXX needed to indent the windscreen and solar film job, I told them that I'll be back in 1:30pm with my ride. Left XXX 9:30am.

10:00 am, I changed my mind about film and called them to use generic brand $120. They said cannot, windscreen already stick with $250 film:bullshit:. Do you believe in 30 mins they could get the windscreen and solar-film already stick? Got this feeling that I'm screwed....:screwedu:

Here's more....... While removing existing windscreen, the wire for IU unit was accidentally cut, shorted and blown the fuse. They said 'common problem' with BeeM, can be fixed easily.

Thing went smoothly and windscreen replaced. Then they said there have no fuse and directed me to a auto accessory shop on ground level (within the same building). The electrician checked all fuses were in good condition. Then he started dismantling panels and it took about 30 mins before IU came back alive :furious:. I left near around 4:30pm with this lingering fear of what other potential electronic problems might have created.....::helpp!:

Moral of the story: If your insurance policy allows PML, please send it to PML. 2 days in PML means in AM-today and collect AM-tomorrow......so effectively its only 1 night without your "Be-My-Woman". You still have one woman at home..... Solar film replacement is less than 30 mins for windscreen.

Sometimes, spend a little longer time goes a long way....at least you won't have this lingering thought of 'what will happen to my ride after the autopsy"......

Good Luck!

Re: Front Windscreen Replacement. My experience......

I've done my windscreen replacement by Juzz For Cars.
Seetoh helped me to arrange with one of the workshop at the same building at Level 1.
Left the car first thing in the morning and collected it in the evening to let it have more time to dry.

Totally no problem.. Perfect Job! And J4C didn't earn a single cent from me at all..
Tinting wise, can just pop by at Infratint and they will do it for you.

But i was recommended to add my tinting 2 weeks after the installation.
Coz when doing tinting gotta use quite some force on the windscreen, might cause it to move..

Not sure why yours dry within half a day and can add the film so fast..

Just wanna share my great experience from J4C.

My tint was sticked on to the new windscreen then they installed. But I don;t believe that within 30 they can get the new windscreen and stick the tint...then talked nonsense like cannot reverse now. Must pay....

Go to only reliable one that you know, if not PML........

I gong-gong follow AXA recommended workshop and found this company Glass-Fix......then had to face nightmare.... Just hope no water leak or electronic problem.
