Re: Fuel economy for 520i

Normal if ass is off and peak hour.

City only in peak hour

70% expressway/ 30% peak hour city+parked car twice

5am 90% e-way/10% city +parked car twice

Re: Fuel economy for 520i

Hi, I just bought my 520i on the 13th and the fuel economy is really not what is promised. I have been getting 11L/100km or 9km/L. I was told that a mix of city and highway driving should easily get you around 12km/L. This is all big talk, come to believe, that all these figures are good on paper. Infact, since we have bought the car, most of our driving has been on highways. Also been driving in the comfort mode. So not really sure if I go on the Sports Mode what to expect. Is it true that as your engine seasons, your efficiency becomes better? How much do you need to drive to know is your car really fuel efficient or is it just one of those lousy claims. Wonder, why are the authorities allowing such claims when people who actually drive the car dont get that type of fuel efficiency.

Re: Fuel economy for 520i

Hello All! I am driving a 2011 F10, 528i and I noticed that the Miles Saved Meter of Eco Pro is always resetting itself at or after mid-point of fuel gauge. I thought it should only reset itself after every re-fill in full. My car was sent in to PML and they did some resets, however after 2 weeks, the same problem repeats itself. It was working perfectly for 11 months, always measuring at around 60km gained for full tank. Has anyone encounter the same problem too? Thanks!

Re: Fuel economy for 520i

Since you have a spreadsheet - do you record the time of the day, ambient temperature, and humidity?

This way you can analyse the effects with more than 2 factors (city and highway). You can then include day and night driving as well as sunny and rainy days.

It will be a fantastic personal 6 sigma project .......

:)

I am getting 7.5 to 8 km/litre on my 520. 45% city traffic and 55% expressways these days. 15km+/litre is on ideal conditions with ASS and all. I guess if we acheive 10+ kms a litre, then it should be good for 520 turbo.
