Heavy Vehicle Road Usage during Peak Hours

Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone thinks that heavy vehicles (anything that has a 60kmh or less speed limit) SHOULD be restricted to off-peak hours on the road, since they are usually the main cause of traffic jams during peak hours?

I'm not saying ban them completely, just put up some restrictions on their timing to ease the traffic & reduce peak hour frustrations.

Any guess what's the percentage of motorist who will support such a call? Something worth setting up a poll for?

Re: Heavy Vehicle Road Usage during Peak Hours

they really do hold up traffic esp on E-ways ... so many of them hogging the 2nd lane travelling at 60-70kmh .. sometimes with a clear path ahead.

I will not support. The roads were made for commercial efficacy. We WANT our shipments on time, during office hours.

If anybody wants to lower traffic during peak hours, I would suggest that private cars save Jazz, Vios, Camry, Accord, Rush, RAV4, Sunny, Corolla, Swift, Civic, Mazda3 should be banned from the CBD roads during peak hours. The mercs, bmw, porsches, ferraris, Audis, all are senior staff cars, not very important for business to flow. These guys better off at the golf courses.

Please don't echo the stupidity of cuntries like Malaysia.

Re: Heavy Vehicle Road Usage during Peak Hours

its not economically feasible to implement cos building projects need to be run peak or off-peak hrs.
anyway, i dun think they can be solely blamed for whatever jams there are.
they are just part of the prob. like the word "peak hr", every driver is trying to use the same road, regardless of what vehicle they drive, its still contributing to the jam.
so do we ban all drivers from driving?
i got my share of snail drivers hogging the road, drivers waiting to siam ERP timing.
compared with the traffic condition of other countries, we are already considerably less jammed up.....try bangkok man
as for supporting whatever call, i think alot of drivers will support ban taxi drivers instead.....haha....cause of most accidents....hehe

Rich, heavy vehicles are the life blood of society. How can you restrict them? Without them you wouldnt have food, petrol, clothing, housing and so on and so on. Restricting them would make things more expensive.
How about simply making them use the inside lane? Have you thought about pedestrians? How long do you have to wait at lights for them to cross? Then have the brilliant minded ones walk at a snails pace?
Truck drivers have to work just like you. Industry is what makes Singapore what it is, you cant slow it down becuase motorists dont like trucks

Re: Heavy Vehicle Road Usage during Peak Hours

Richlee, nothing personal, but this post is utterly fucked up and hopefully you meant it as a joke.

I get really riled by this kind of philosophy or lack of it. Lack of fucking brains.

Re: Heavy Vehicle Road Usage during Peak Hours

Cays, whats wrong with you lately? Got shit attitude all of a sudden

Re: Heavy Vehicle Road Usage during Peak Hours

phil, i think u will make a nice spokeperson for the govt or NTUC....hehe
we need to have a wider view of things, especially economically, when it comes to our country.
just like the buangkok station, all the hoohaa abt trying to get it opened.....in the end, not enough usage as anticipated...haha
sometimes we just have to make some hard decisions.....can't please everyone all the time

Err ... I'm happy, I'm happy. But to see a plea to ban heavy vehicles, the major REASON why roads were built, doesn't it rile you?

Actually a lot of things rile me lately, thank you for bringing it to my attention.

It's gotta do with Singapore society going to the dogs. The start of blatant consumerism instead of following the capitalist path, from the narrow perspective that `instant gratification' instead of `suffer like fuck to invest for the future'.

I see more and more blatant consumerism from the posts.

I get so angry!

I could scream!!!

(ok some smart asses will refer to my toy and brand me a hypocrite, but then, the financing details will stand me in good stead still)

Re: Heavy Vehicle Road Usage during Peak Hours

exactly, cant please everyone, nor does everyone think the same way as each other. Welcome to my world!! hahaha
