Hello! New here.

Anyone knows of a workshop that can change the CD changer in the car? Cos the service advisor wants to charge 3.5k at Performance. Seems a bit high.

Ah.. Thanks.. Tried the site sponsor... I just wanted to replace it.. .change it to any that doesn't need too much modification or drilling. So the best option is probably to change it to an ipod unit. Wonder why the Service Advisor didn't advise that.... cos I read on the forum a lot of bros who want to change it to the iPod system have to discard their CDChanger system anyway.

yes he is rigt. and quite frankly i would discourage. ur cd changer is not merely just a player. some software updates are done via the unit. so without it there is no way they can do anything shld software related issues arise. if u r lucky the service advisor would close one eye and ask u to change back to the original unit and come back for warranty claims. suay, he will just void warranty on spot.

Already out of warranty, so I suppose it doesn't matter. Since the CDC doesn't work anyway, it can't solve any software issues also. There is another CD unit still in the car... don't know if that can be used to do software upgrades.

I meant.... doesn't BMW have their own iPod interface? That would what I would have liked to change to. The CDC is dead anyway.

Usually I would just go back to Performance unless they are being ridiculous with their pricings. I would probably want to look for an external workshop which I can trust also. So that there is another alternative.
