Help! Minor stone chips on windscreen

Hi Guys

Was filtering into PIE and kena stuck behind a F*Cking Lorry on the leftmost lane that was kicking up granite chips falling off from it's load! NNB CCB! cldn't change lane and could only quickly jam brakes after checking behind.........

But already kena the little stone chips on the windscreen.....

No major chips like cracks or anything but definitely got some small chip marks here and there..........haiz!!:evil:

Other than changing the windscreen, are there any "Windscreen restorers" who can "polish" off these chip marks??

not sure if this helps, I was at Autobacs and i saw this product that says GLASS POLISH.
The instructions are in jap so i couldnt make sense of it.

Not sure what it does but the place has tons of products.

quite a few mobile windscreen fixers around in Singapore when I last enquired. $50 or less for a chip depending on seriousness. Just google for them. They should do just fine.

I tried Glass Polish but it doesnt help. I think the product (if any) needs to act like some form of "fillings" for the surface of the glass to work...

try 8 Cushion in bkt merah lane 3 (behind alexandra village. it's at blk 1001, #01-59.they do repair little cracks on the windscreen.

Nope... u cannot repair.

Got to realise that the windscreen has pit marks due to glass being removed by the dirt/sand/stone chips. Once glass particles are gone, there is nothing to replace them, except for using glass resin (the kind that those mobile glass "repairers" use). But once dry, the resin will turn transulcent, and not transparent. In the end, u will have translucent dots all over ur windscreen.

Mine windscreen is like diseased... Just gotta change it after a while. I reckon it will affect the integrity of the glass hence making it unsafe in the long run... I travel regularly on TPE so these trucks are common sights... Sigh...

simon, you should have a look at my windscreen...

even the guys at the carwash are worried that i'd blame them for causing it, and so 'sir, your windscreen got problem, many many dots, cannot wipe off.' kekeke...

it's not due to NSH highway. like you said, the culprits are the dumptrucks traveling on the highways at speeds way above their limits.

no choice, bro. have to wait till you change the whole windscreen. it's covered under your insurance. so don't need to top up. go talk to your insurance company.

Sorry to hear that tobynik. I don't travel on NSH (where's that?), only in Singapore, but my windscreen looks like constellations in the sky.

Me and jinooi can meet you at SMU, then you see our windscreen, confirm feel better.

When I got my first little "dot" on the windscreen, heart pain siah. Now, can't even bother to look at it. jinooi says one of the constellations on my windscreen look like Gemini. :lol2:

Simon, I am living with the many dots too.....

dun think will change the windscreen unless it is a big crack.....

Live with the glass pits, until u get a crack, then u can get it changed.

Check for someone from Delphi Forums name Mr Ng.... any windscreen issue all can solve.... if there is a hairline crack.... don just relac.... if will crack further.... Mr Ng is using glass welding.... so it will close back guarantee no further carcks.... whatever windscreen hole or crack also can do..... 9008 4735 Mr Ng

Yes, I had him repair my E46 crack before and i called him this time and he said "ya, many many small minor chips cannot do....but bigger cracks can be repaired"

He's good....meet him at a place easy for him, 1 price.

He come to you, add $10.00.

I think that's fair.....

Anyway, what's the status fo changing windscreen with the insurance? Can Is it covered or is it officially a claim?

depends on your policy...

the more you pay, the more items will be covered.

go check the clauses in your policy...
