How do we increase HP or performance of 323i engine?

Hi all,

Does the following work to increase horse power of our 2.5litre engine?

323i OBD VOLO DSF Performance Flash Chip

I apologise for my ignorance, first time riding a bmer, what can i do now to increase the response and performance of the 190 horse engine currently?

Any input or sharing from fellow brothers and sisters here would be appreciated.
Please recommend the brand and right specification for the following parts:

Wheels:
Ignition:
Air Intake:
ECU:
Exhaust:
Etc...
(Trying to avoid engine mod)

Or i should simply forget about the mod and save up for 335i? :)

Hi Gleamese,

in the first place why did you buy a 323i??? hehe....
Probably the best way is just install BMS Powerbox plus Nology plugs, use 5w to 30w engine oil..................................... of course lighter rims (really helps)...

air intake still ok but exhaust sure to lose some low-end torque......( and in sg we need more torque than hp )

it will be nice to save-up the $ for a 335i or a M3!!! ( depend on your wallet )

* or play with better handling like coilover and sway-bar so can do more cornering as power is nothing without control

cheers

or get my E82? cheaper option to 335..no need save so long :)

Re: How do we increase HP or performance of 323i engine?

still thinking of swaybar .... afraid it alter the ride comfort especially with uneven roads, manholes, speed trap stripes (those make dong dong dong sounds)

I think the answer is very clear! Save up for 335 or m3!! lol Hope to get it by next year. For now, maybe get a set of lightweigh rims and coil over to get a firmer ride.

Thanks for all the precious sharing. Great sharing from this forum here. Thumbs up

Hi Bro ac323,

Could you advise what type or brand of suspension system is good for a 323?
What brand of rims are not too heavy, i heard we should not get any rim that is more than 8KG. Is that piece of information genuine? Would the selectively chosen weight limits the choice of nicer rim?

Regards
Gleamese

Hi Gleamese,

Coilover: either KW v2 or v2 street comfort or v3 ( if you wanna track your ride )

OZ rims are quite light....you can call Ray S Sports Rims (Raymond), 6342 2328, he got stock: both Black and Silver either 18 or 19ins......

* remember to install Pbox for better response...
cheers

Hi Gleamese,

cheers

Re: How do we increase HP or performance of 323i engine?

BMW oem rim is heavy and the offset is not flush
For light weight can consider JDM rims like Volks, Advans, Prodrive

Correct me if i am wrong.

Why Gold88 can achieve a look thats pretty flush from a angle?
Is there anyway we could retain the use of OEM rim and maintain the look, e.g. getting 15mm spacer or something? I hope you guys could enlighten me bit, pretty confused now.

Hi Gleamese,

actually i also surprised why OEM rims are not flush or maybe just some 16ins and 17ins stock rims and most of performance 18 or 19 should flush???

the link you post is Kris bro ride......it looks flush.....

cheers

Re: How do we increase HP or performance of 323i engine?

if it is original rim, the offset definitely not flush
18-inch, it is +34/+37 8j/8.5j
19-inch, it is +37/+39 8j/9j

For e90 flush it is 8.5j/9.5j +35/+33
