How many moved from E90 320i to F30, and regret/enjoyed

My dearest E90 320i will be coming to its end of 10 years next CNY. Yes that's another 9 months to go and bye bye:sickinbe:

Been looking at possible replacements and obviously the F30 comes to mind. But which one...
Since this is a second car(I called it my family car), I ve tell the wife lets keep it simple, or simpler. As in, don't get a F30 335 or M3. By the way I have also an E92 335i(which is not the family car:chinese:)

So for those who move from an E90 to the F30, any thing to advise? Is the 316 good enough, 320 will do, or 328 will be too much.
What are somethings you like and dont on yr F30. I sat in one(passenger side) and it seems the leg room is poor vs the E90. The centre console is blocking/touching right knee.

Any useful advice is highly appreciated.

Nothing less than 320 especially B48B20. Don't waste time with 318 which use 1.5 turbo.

I recently replaced my E90 320, test driven F30 316 & 320i ED.
As compared to E90 320, these r just a few areas that matters to me, which maybe vastly different from another bro.
316 : 0-100 about the same as E90 320
320 : 2++ secs faster
Drive-ability much better steering feel, lighter under slow speed, meaty when fast. Body roll improved.
Fuel Economy : F30 320i ED getting 5.7-7.9L / 100km vastly improved (60/40 highway/city)
Lower Rd tax for F30 320i ED

And PML/SE gave a very good trade-in ; )

Hope U find the info useful

Thx Tribeca. Certainly useful considerations. I didn't know the 320i had lower road tax. Wasn't paying attention to these models until lately.

Because that's 1.6L with the power & torque of 118.

With F30 LCI, it will be the same engine as F45 218

M Sport bodykit, 18"rims, M sport suspension, M Sport Trim, M sport steering, Sports seat etc

If you intend to buy and change anything to M sports (bodykit) more worthwhile to buy the Msport version.

Yes I find the 320i's consumption very good. Power also very reasonable. Worth considering

Re: How many moved from E90 320i to F30, and regret/enjoyed

both the 316i and 320i have been removed from PML price list...new 318i and 320i will be coming in shortly..

Re: How many moved from E90 320i to F30, and regret/enjoyed

PML loaned me an F30 320i replacement car for one week sometime back. It was a much better drive with the turbo 4 compared to my previous E90 320i. Much more power and torque, more than enough for daily drive. The steering was light, but not too light. Handling still as sharp. Clearly a next generation car. My only gripe is that the materials used looks more cheap looking, especially the piece of plastic around the gear knob.

Can I ask whats the mileage of your current 320i? Any major repairs so far?
I still miss my E90 from time to time. Sold it after 4 years cos it gave me quite a few problems. Mileage was

I had a 316i for about a year... impulse buy, didn't even consult the gurus on these hallowed forum pages (my bad). It was a good drive - simple, straight forward point A to point B. I liked the boot kicker... it was something none of my other cars had. Pity the boot didn't have auto-close though. The 316i didn't have navigation and had a small iDrive screen, but for (IIRC) $165,000 I really couldn't complain much. Sold it off after a year, and bought the X5 :).

Re: How many moved from E90 320i to F30, and regret/enjoyed

Had E90 320i, bought it brand new for $130k!!! Gone were the days of cheap COE! Good work horse and rugged but downgraded from 2.2L/6 to 2L/4. Had E46 320/2.2 and it was real silky engine. Now an exciting 335 still enjoying it after 3 years. And now they launched 340!

Re: How many moved from E90 320i to F30, and regret/enjoyed

i had an e90 320. good rock solid workhorse. i abused the daylights out of it and the handling was truly impressionable. especially the ton heavy steering feel. moved on to a 1m and then 335. both cars r very impractical and lacking in many departments, probably as its really easy to reach the limits of those cars and you always have to hold back.

3 weeks back bought a nissan teana 2.5L. wa shiok... japanese luxury at a fraction of conti price. no garage queen, no need to siam potholes, no need to watch where i park. and really the teana has a high benchmark for comfort.
