It doesn't require idrive for iPhone music playback through the car. The aux input for e90 is located inside the centre armrest console. There is a 3.5mm jack input with 'Aux' word written. Just get any similar jack to connect your iPhone/iPod. Then on your BMW radio, select 'Aux' option. Controls have to done through device itself. Only up & down volume and poor sound quality.

Cheers!

Dear all E90 owners,

i have the cable that fits E90 cars to iphone for playing your favourite music. The functions are as follows:

1) Allows charging while driving
2) Allows you to control the music while driving using the "Up" & "Down" arrow functions on your steering wheel to choose the music you want
3) Allows you to keep the iphone neatly in your centre console

I am selling it for just $55(net) as I just sold my car. Interested, please message me at 9879 9989. (Alfred)

Re: how to connect iphone to E90 for music

I just download all my MP3 songs to a thumbdrive.
Then I plug it into the USB port in the centre armrest.
From my BMW stereo I select USB.
Can control track/sort by album singer/genre etc.
Mine is a 2009 E90 though.

As it allows charging, Bro V6's cable will have a USB head. Or whatever it's called

Re: how to connect iphone to E90 for music

Thanks 3PO for clarification.

Any other iphone solution for aux-in only rides? That enables charging and some control (good to have not critical).

Here's my setup:

http://www.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=525857

One button to turn on/off this device, pair with iPhone to start/stop playing, double click for track change. Uses the existing 3.5mm jack aux in.

The USB port would allow another charging cable to be connected to the iPhone.

My phone is held by a Aircon vent holder. I ran the charging cable from the arm rest to the center Aircon vent area, need to DIY, but not difficult. The Belkin button uses the same route but is double sided taped to the centre console below the Aircon controls.

my pressure.
Aux cannot charge. If no USB, only way to charge is via cigeratte lighter port.

For control wise, I'm sure there's device out there that's useful. Hope some other bros here can help. Edit: see Ryan75 post above.

BMW rocks!
ac323 say one.

Thanks for the options bros.

Kinda sucks that the lighter port is under the arm rest. Most iPhone chargers are quite tall and extend out a fair bit. Will give your suggestions a go.
