How to protect bonnet from stone chips

Hello everyone,
From my experience, when a car gets old, the protecting layer at the bonnet gets thinner and thinner.
(This seems to get worse with polishing.)
As a result, stone chips become very common on the bonnet.

Hence, is there anything I can do to protect my bonnet from stone chips?

1. Clear Bra
I think this is expensive and the bonnet will look different (I mean the colour).

2. Paint Protection Film
Is this same as clear bra?

Please kindly advise which option is good and where I can do it.

Thanks for your precious time in reading this and replying.

Hi C3P0,

Below is what I can input;

From my experience, when a car gets old, the protecting layer at the bonnet gets thinner and thinner. (This seems to get worse with polishing.)
- The 'thinning' major contributor IS from polishing as each polishing, a micro layer is removed. My previous ride (of 9yrs+) bonnet does not have any thinning but a handful of tiny stone chips.... well from far cannot see anyway.

1. Clear Bra (I think this is expensive and the bonnet will look different)
- I do believe there is non in Singapore or the World for that matters (I can be wrong). But the Black Bra I see alot.

2. Paint Protection Film (Is this same as clear bra?)
- It is available in some countries and if I recall, there is 1 firm providing this. It is not e same as a clear bra, it is more like laminate e.g. Body wrap by Gen Concept... I think.

Please kindly advise which option is good and where I can do it
- Bra, none in SG. eBay has but not for many brand/models. US and Australia sells and e latter has alot of sellers, unsure if any does it online.

Thanks for your precious time in reading this and replying - Most Welcomed.

Re: How to protect bonnet from stone chips

bro.

dont drive, sure minimize stonechip by at least 90%! ;)

Re: How to protect bonnet from stone chips

Re-spray car every week.... Else every month.

If not, drive car in reverse.... Bonnet will be protected.... Trunk will not.

Cheers.

Drive slowly... Enjoy the car....

Speeding exacerbates chances of stone chips.

Body wrap? Like those done at gen concept.
Not really bro. Im looking for a thin transparent layer that doesn't change the colour of the bonnet...

Yes totally agreed! Polishing plays a part...

Re: How to protect bonnet from stone chips

There are protective film but I think very ex. One example:
Autosaver - Auto Car Care - Special Products

For the money I think can give the car a fresh coat of paint. Also, hearsay it would lose the shine after a while (frozen colour ;) ?)

Just don't tailgate or stay too close to trucks.
