How to remove hairline scratches?

I was just wiping the door with my handkerchief the other day and to my horror, it left a few tiny hairline scratches that you can see when the light is reflected at the right angle. What can I do to remove them? Do I need to take it to a paint shop or is there a much simpler way? Thanks.

Wax n polish shld be able to get rid of it

Thanks. Just any kind of car polish or is there some particular kind of wax?

Re: How to remove hairline scratches?

not too sure but...hmm..think normal polish shud be fine.
i use AutoGlym polish and Meguiar's Wax (sometimes Turtle wax)

If the scratch cannot remove using polish, try meguiar's Scratch-X...
no gurantees though, if Scratch-X and polish cannot remove, then think muz go see the professionals liao

Re: How to remove hairline scratches?

IMO, the Meguires Scratch X is a little too abrasive. Try 3M's Swirl Mark remover to polish out the marks. This should be followed up with your regular wax to protect the area.

Cheers

Scratch-x sucks... Tried on jet black paint before... waste money product.

Go and see a pro and get it machine off... by the time u try all the products and money spent w/o result, better save it for machining..

Re: How to remove hairline scratches?

haha ok...
i use scratch-X for hard to see areas like the boot and sometimes around the fuel cap area.
Get rid of all the old built up dirt that's stuck to the paint... all those brown brown stains...
afher that use some turtle wax on it

Try Meguire's NXT. Price a bit on the high side, but worth it.

ya bro.. mayb this scratch X works for lighter colour paint work. Not for Jet black.

No product in the market now can satisfy me in removing fine scratches from jet black paint.. only temporarily for a few days than the scratches will appear again. Gek Sim.... .. ..

Tua Jia : same lah.. SFC will settle the scratches by means of machining... and if my maid has a machine on hand, she will machine my jet black paint until jet white.. lagi jialat... I once ask her to wash by home electric fan, she literally dump the whole fan in soup water and start washing... lagi Gek Sim....
