how to safe petrol

Hi guys,

Bored in office... so i thot i will post...

Is there anything we can do to a car to help cut down petrol consumption?

like a thinner engine oil etc..etc...

If you have tried anything and it works, do post!

if u are driving turbo car, best not to drive till empty tank. i heard from some expert.


if u want to save petrol, try to drive around 80 to 90kmh consistently.
but fun factor is negative.

how about keeping the rpm not more than 3000?

i hardly drive in an aggressive manner, unless the road is really empty for a long distance leh...

and my car no turbo...

N52 2.5litre engine on a 2008 X3...

maybe should really try half tank theory

try driving without air-con...........

drive without air-con, do more highway driving and keep the car at the highest running gear but at the lowest rpm possible.

these days, the weather is damn bad... can't imagine driving without aircon leh...

If i have to spend the petrol, i will spend the petrol... ha ha...

i always try to take the highway if the option is available... the problem is i work in Orchard Road. and my daily commute is right down holland road and into orchard road...

not much chance to hit highway.

I tried pumping my tires to 36 psi. That helps a bit.

Sometimes i think perhaps diesel is not a bad idea! hahahha

if your car is an auto just leave it to the EGS to upshift for you while you prod the littlest accel pedal travel you can in your everyday driving. I've seen those taxi drivers in shanghai who goes up to 5th gear in the shortest possible time (like within 6-8seconds of moving off). They think high gear low rpm means best fuel consumption. But what it means is just that you are loading the engine unnecessarily and the ecu will request even more fuel from the fuel injectors. So you waste even more fuel. champion.

u always very fast finish, chocs said u weak.

Change forge rims, remove rear seats.

Change to 2 doors or 2 seaters, stop fetching passengers. Do so only when necessary. Got extra chio bu, call me for ferry services. Confirmed FC drops.

+1 , chio bu only increase FC & no mileage. e.g. aircon ON 45mins at east coast park.
