Installing rear view camera

Hello everybody, wonder where do you install your rear view camera ?

Thinking of installing one to safe guard the butt of the F10 cos dont really trust the PDC.

Gotten various quote from various ICE installer from this forum and outside forum ranging from 1.2k all the way to 3k

Not too sure how much is the original camera cost though, but i think the 3k consider too exp for me whereby the 1.2k sounds too cheap making me think that it might not worthwhile to get it.

I'm assuming that you are going for the integrated type that uses back your built-in screen. 3k is definitely overpriced. I think 1.2k is about right.

Yup, using back the iDrive in the F10. Gotta try and look around for something more value for $.

To do this, you will have to install an interface kit + the camera module. Here's one:

Multimedia Interface kit with Rear Camera for F-series + BMW
(I have no affiliation whatsoever with them)

They ship internationally from USA, so you can order without problems, but then you'll have to find an installer to install it (unless you are good with DIY) and also have to risk things not working.

So the kit plus shipping will cost about $600+ USD, which is about $800+ SGD. So that is why I said $1.2K is reasonable (pay for installation + local aftersales support). $3K is purely ripoff.

i installed one for abt 250 from one of the sponsors here.. mine is not bm tho and its just for the camera..i already have the lcd

I thought about direct import. Cheap. But too high risk. Need to interfere with computer system.

Our site sponsor Soundwerkz quoted me about $1200 to install module to iDrive and install camera. I this this is a better, safer option. BMW car is too complicated to let shops unfamiliar with it to play around.

Really? I was told 2.3k, maybe exclude labor n gst etc.....
