Instrument Cluster Brake Indicator - 99 523i

Help from the forum needed!!!!. The brake indciator in the instrument cluster in my car stays lit all the time. It lit intermittently in the past and I brought the car to the service center everytime it happened and they would check the entire braking system and could not find anything wrong with it - and each time in the past, they would be able to get the light unlit.. Lately the light stayed lit permanently and I took it again to the service center. Still the same, the service center can not find anything wrong in the system and theorized that the problem is in the instrument cluster itself. For some reason they seem to be hesitant working on the instrument cluster. The delimna is I don't feel comfortable driving the car even if the they've done a thorough check - it's not just right. Wonder if any in the forum have experienced this in the past and how was it rectified.
