Insurance for BMW with new10years COE

Thinking of buying new COE on my ride E90. Car is coming to its 10-year life span but mileage is low and in good shape.

Heard that its rather difficult to buy comprehensive insurance, and most insurers only offer 3rd party insurance cover. Is it true and why? Anyone here who already have extended your COE, either BMW or other cars, can share which insurer you used that can offer comprehensive coverage? Thank you :smack:

Insurance cos. offer comp.insurance for cars more than 10 yrs. they will only allow u to take 3rd party if you do not hv car loan, or else comp.insurance is mandatory

Re: Insurance for BMW with new10years COE

d reason y insurance co dun offer comprehensive coverage bcoz when u got into an accident they will recommend for scrap...of which is only worth d paper value that u had gotten for ur COE and d only monies u can get out of them is rental or loss of use...it makes no economical sense for them to fix up ur ride...maintaining a more than 10 yo ride in sg is tough coz u had to increase ur road tax by 10% every year n LTA inspection every year (if my memory serves me rite)..2 cents

Re: Insurance for BMW with new10years COE

e90 OMV ~44k+ so the min parf rebate ~22k
add the 10yr COE price is $60+22 = 82k over 10year or ~8.2k depreciation per year
very cheap
i saw sgcarmart 8.2k/yr now can only buy a picanto
however, to maintain a 10year old e90 for another 10year may be costly

I am in the same predicament as you. What have you decided to do? Renew?

Re: Insurance for BMW with new10years COE

Renewed my stock e90 coe, using Aviva comprehensive. No loan, no mod. Mileage 100k (1st owner). Step by step renewing the wear & tear.

Axa and ntuc offered me comprehensive insurance.

Bags4queen, you started a renewed coe e90 thread, good initiative.
ABD, your 320, 335 joining?

Aviva compre about 1.2k for two years - they only offer 2 years' term, so ~600/year (subjected to age/ncb/history with them), I requested for one year, not accepted (reason: they don't take 11th year's insurance, combine 11th, 12th ok. Weird). From Aviva online, it doesn't take coe'd car, my case was already with them 3 years (kind of auto renewal). Did not do any benchmarking as I found the quotes are acceptable.

Can share AXA/ntuc quotes?
Knowing ntuc usually quite high. Hope you get a good deal.
