Is CARS polisher worth it?

You know those shopping centre carpark polishers? I think it's called CAR or something. Yellow oval logo.

I was thinking of signing up with them for a no hassle polish while I shop.

What kind of prices do they charge? I was quoted $1000 for a 4 year membership, and $48 per polish after that. They said that they'll throw in some initial power polish or something.

When I asked if they had a 1 year package, they said no. I don't seem to believe them.

Was I "carroted"? : )

Advice please.

My old ride was polished with CSII. Now PML gives me a year free of their Amazing Glaze, which works out to 4 coats a year. But I think they don't even last a month.

That's why I'm looking to wax and polish about once a month, on top of the AG package.

I'm specifically looking at the CARS polishers, cos they're found in most shopping centres like taka, suntec, marina, etc. So quite convenient to leave there and go shopping.

(1) Assuming you utilise them once a month, the effective cost of each session is over S$68. $68 for a shop without any credentials?

(2) Credit risk - can they even last 4 years? What happened if they close shop A and open shop B?

(3) There are groomers, there are sealers and there are restorers. Most of these shops are groomers. Some are sealers and groomers, like Cazcomp (Zaino), Others are restorer and groomers, like Spa 4 Cars. It really depends on what you need. You pay peanuts, you get peanut oil on your car.

(4) I cannot help but notice most of these shopping centre groomers do not have a washing bay. How the hell do they wash your car before grooming? Wipe off? On the surface job? Think about it......

Re: Is CARS polisher worth it?

Not forgetting the recent case in Suntec City i think.
Where one of the workers in the polisher wrecked a customer's cars by ramming it into a few others?

beware~

I think my main concern would be point 2....... unless they really got a veri good or well known reputation......:)

i'm a new car owner, and i'm thinking of bringing it for car grooming, car detailing. But i'm not sure if its worth the money... I checked out one shop, they advise me car glazing is good for the car, as it will add an additional coat of protection to it.

But when i call Spa 4 cars, they told me glazing is not necessary for new cars as just applying sealant will do. Glazing is more for car owners whose car has swirls on the surface..

Any advice what type of sealant, coating i should be going for if i want my car to have that additional shine and protection?

Re: Is CARS polisher worth it?

i have been a long time customer of klasse mobile grooming.
they will come to your place and do the grooming.
maybe you can check their website for more details.klasse sg.

Re: Is CARS polisher worth it?

Ok, so it seems unanimous that carpark polishers are not worth it. I shall not sign up.

As for the whole suite of groomers, waxers, restorers etc, I guess it's personal preference. So thanks for your valuable advice and feedback!

Does anyone have the contact for Zaino? Might want to try that out. Thanks.

Question - how do they wash your car when at your place?

Cazcomp..... but do note that even between branches, quality of service differs !!! Millenia Walk offer better service IMO.

4 year contract? If they dont last that long they will run away with yr $$. you know last time similar happened with those hand-washed service at Esso. Collect many $50 from car owners for a packge of car washes n then dissappeared.

yes I also noticed, in fact that day at Bishan-8 I saw an E92 335(same as my car, so I got a shock) cleaned by the MSCP car polishers. The area where they do polishing is dry so I suppose they didnt wash before they do polishing. That is a big no-no for me.

Re: Is CARS polisher worth it?

ok the klasse groomer comes to my place and starts watering down the car with a bucket.
then he....

Wash & Claybar
Pre-clean, polish & surface protectant – using Klasse AIO
Apply gloss Glaze – using Klasse HGSG
Cleaning of exterior windscreens & door glasses
Tyre Dressing

no power tools only hands but only exterior and takes 2 hours.$88 per session.

i usually call him once every 2 months.
so far i am quite happy.
very convenient.

Re: Is CARS polisher worth it?

Just a bucket of water?

Re: Is CARS polisher worth it?

I am keen to find out if there are any shops offering good car wash service, without being tied to some car polish package. In my case, I find that if car is parked sheltered, a single polish treatment with a good product like menzerna or klasse lasts 3 months. Its the inbetween washes that is important.

Any such shops?
