I have got my car (X5) for about a year now, kept wanting to have JB4 installed as I have heard and tried out a number of 335s fitted with the JB4. It is fantastic to say the least.
To date, JB4 is still not available for N55 and so (cannot wait anymore) installed the JB3 configured for N55 last week at BOSS.
Of course, in term of functions, JB3 cannot be compared to JB4. For N55, you cannot change the map setting for sure. There is only 1 map setting, installed it and live with it. :laughlik:
I have been driving with the JB3 for about a week now. I did not do any test on the horsepower gain, torque gain etc. Everything is butt feel.
The improvement I felt most pronounced after JB3 is the smoothness upon acceleration. Before JB3, there was always turbo lag. (Single turbo inheritance problem I believe)
But after JB3, my butt tells me the lag is reduced. It is a lot more fun to drive now than before.
Power (hp/Nm) gain? I believe there are, cannot proved unless I do a dyno test which itself is controversial.
Patrol consumption? I do not see a gain but I do not see losses as well. So if it maintains the way it is, I am happy. More fun to drive without spending more on fuel.
Overall I am very happy with the JB3. :woottt: Yes, I cannot change the setting but that is ok with me (sour grape).
