Re: jerk when changing from N to D

6 months old niah leh...
and less than 8k in mileage...must change ATF??

Re: jerk when changing from N to D

Last time ur sandy chia manual, now new car auto tio Bo? Slight jerk very normal la, PML say one.
Ok joking la, nobody here dare to say big or small problem because no one knows what kind of jerking is it.
If car under PML/PI warranty u can either ask PML/PI workshop to check during next servicing, or if worried, just call and make appt to go down. I bet $10.99 that if PML, they will take 2 days and say it's normal, or they will blame it on ur after market rims ke ke.
Ai mod Mai?

Re: jerk when changing from N to D

Re: jerk when changing from N to D

Re: jerk when changing from N to D

I think it is normal to jerk slightly when moving from N to D and vice versa. If violent jerk, then you better check it.

Re: jerk when changing from N to D

no i dont think it's normal to jerk slightly, it's a sign that something is not right with the gear box.
my last e36 jerked too, but that was like a 20 yr old car.
i am gonna bring it in to see what they say...

Re: jerk when changing from N to D

I have been driving autos for a long time and it is never butter smooth shifting from 1 gear to another. When you shift from N to D, you are engaging gear and you expect that not to jerk?

Re: jerk when changing from N to D

All my cars are auto and they do jerk slightly. I thought that is normal too.

All my cars jerk when N to D or vice versa - old or new.

Re: jerk when changing from N to D

my former mechanic told me this...when your gearbox jerks while changing gear means it's going to become faulty real soon...
of course the car will still move...my old ride had the same issue until the gearbox warning light appear, basically when that happens, your gear wont engage...like from 1 to 2 to 3...etc..it will get stuck in gear 3 eg...etc...
guess jerking is quite subjective...

;)

Re: jerk when changing from N to D

well, it its new car and under warranty, its best to go back to pml.
like wise chinese saying...不用白不用
let them do the worrying, not u...keke

Remember to share with us how you resolve the jerk problem.

Re: jerk when changing from N to D

absolutely, i do noticed when the car has been on the move for a while, the jerk seems to go away.
but u will notice it in the morning...temperature issue i suppose?
will keep posted.
