knocking sound heard from steering

Send the car to pml to have it checked. SA says its normal. Even the techs says its normal too. Any suggestions?

Bro, mine also have and I try to find but cannot locate. Initially I thought it was due to some lose item but cannot find one

I know someone have this problem but after he switch to kW suspension he mention that the sound went away...

I have it on my f30 too. It's a common problem for the f30s. It happens when you are going over uneven road surface. I understand it's from the ball joint of the stock absorber which is made of some plastic material. Changing to after market suspension setup will resolve the knocking sound.

If its an adaptive suspension it will be a waste to change to aftermarket suspensions...

I am not sure. Probably the suspension mounting or something and it's made of plastic and this is the culprit causing the knocking sound. After changing to aftermarket Coilover, problem solved.

Seems the problem does not exist on 320/320D/316. But the noise cannot be traced on my 2012 335. PML claimed one electric steering box from BMW and the noise is still there. My E60 520/2.2 had the same problem - the noise went away after I replaced the electric steering box at around 85000 km. Just enjoy my drive and ignore the noise lor!
