loud squeek from engine timing belt

Hi all, I am driving an E46 318. Recently I can hear a loud squeek from the engine, particularly when I am not accelerating. When I stopped to investigate I foud that the sound is from the timing belt area. Has anyone experience such problems before.

Also, I want to know if anyone would recommend another workshop apart from Michael in BM Workshop

Thanks

Re: loud squeek from engine timing belt

Do you mean one of the external rubber fan belts driving the different pulleys rather then the 'timing belt' ? What u described sounds like a slipping belt. The timing chain ( not belt ) is hidden inside the engine and I doubt you can really localise the sound coming from it.
Any external BM workshops can look into it and change a fan belt if needs to. Should not be too expensive.
EuroCars( recently opened by a couple of former Riverview partners ), BVO, Juzz should be able to do it.

Re: loud squeek from engine timing belt

Its usually the belt tensioner for the A/C or the Power Steering.....
just replace them - think about $50 per pc..
