Lowering Springs vs Coilovers

Want to lower my E60 ride by about 1.5-2inch but still want a fairly comfortable and not so hard ride.
Pondering should I go for lowering springs + absorber change OR do coilovers....

Choice 1 : Eibach lowering spring+Koni FSD+H&R ARB (or any combi that bros here can recommend)

OR

Choice 2 : Coilovers (KW, PSS9, BC or other brands)

Appreciate some feedback from bros who has done this before and your experience.
Thank you in advance.

Re: Lowering Springs vs Coilovers

I started with lowering springs and stock suspension. Looks ok but the ride was compromised.
Became bouncy, the setup killled the stock suspension within 20k , thus ended up getting Kw street comfort .

Comfort , looks and cornering performance improved .

Skip the headache go straight to coilover .,

Re: Lowering Springs vs Coilovers

coilover, lowering and comfort

Re: Lowering Springs vs Coilovers

Can bros here who recommended the KW street comfort coilovers PM me on the price and reliable workshop to install?
Also would like to ask about the maintenance...can KW coilovers be repaired or have to throw away and replace after say 4-5 years down the road?

Re: Lowering Springs vs Coilovers

Get the ARB also, it makes quite a difference to E60 in cornering poise.

Re: Lowering Springs vs Coilovers

Hi all,

I have a question here too. Mine is also a E60 and is using a H&R springs with stock suspension.

Nasty 204: may i ask you that you were saying "the setup killled the stock suspension within 20k , thus ended up getting Kw street comfort" . Will it be a problem if I remain in this setup?

I am not so into performance hence I was told to change back to stock springs for more comfort drive. Can any seniors advise me on coilovers and what will it do to my suspensions.... etc. Thanks

Re: Lowering Springs vs Coilovers

actually coilover is the best if u want comfort n looks

Re: Lowering Springs vs Coilovers

My KWV3 on F10 20" (one finger hor) still much more comfortable than a stock E90 318 replacement on 16".

Re: Lowering Springs vs Coilovers

will it be a wrong setup if i remain H&R spring but stock suspension? as in bad for my ride?

nothing wrong as end of the day you must feel comfortable with the ride after installing the H&R spring

Yes, u will most likely end up like my experience. The thing is , stock suspension was designed with a longer springs , so putting in a shorter spring put constant pressure thus most likely shortens life span . Changing to HR springs is the cheapest way of getting the look but ....

What do u do with the stock suspension ? If it is still working , keep it so u can put it back it u want to dekit. In my case , I throw away because it was spoiled.
