Fellow M135 bros,
Have you changed your front brake pads at munich yet? Mine keep showing i need to cover certain distance before i can go in to change, but the indicated km to cover never changed since it first show up, call munich they said must wait till the distance is covered then can change. What distance did you cover before they allow you to change? Thanks

I have been checking, but the stated distance to cover never reduced for months

Re: M135i front brake pad change

It's normal. The wear sensor is only a rough estimate. It will change after few months of driving. Unless your car is a few years old and the remaining mileage is still the same then something is wrong.

I hope so too but its been 2 months and in between i drove to msia and there is still change

Re: M135i front brake pad change

The DSC uses the brake pad sensor to trigger a warning to change the pads. This is a realtime warning because it only happens when the pad wear sensor comes into contact with the rotor.

The distance left before the brake pad sensor would come into contact with the rotor is a calculated value monitored by the DSC module. It uses your average vehicle speed and braking frequency to hash out a value for the CBS system to reflect on your entertainment or BC functions. E.g high average speed with high braking frequencies would have the fastest wear rate and accelerate the countdown distance.

Being that it is a calculated value which sometimes don't reflect reality - have your WS inspect the pad thickness and tell you how many % of the pad is utilised.

Have you changed the brake pad yet? My experience is that most BMW brake pads will wear around 40-50k km. After replacement it can last longer for whatever reason I don't understand. The other major item is the disc itself as it can be worn quite badly... Go to outside workshop they can skin it for you. I normally change my disc around 60-80k km. Hope it helps.

How are you enjoying your M135? Munich offer seems attractive now. Must be basic model...

Re: M135i front brake pad change

i had the brake pads checked when i was back for servicing 2 weeks back, Munich said still can be used and won't change so i LL

The current package is really bare unit, smaller screen, no GPS, no memory seat, basic audio system....
