M3 Bodykit for E46?

Hey guys,

I've been driving an E46 sedan for a couple of months now, and just yesterday I got smacked in the ass by a Hyundai, cracking my rear bumper.

Blessing in disguise though, it finally got me off my ass and over my indecisiveness to slap on a new body kit!

I was looking around for some bodykits, and I realise that the M3 front bumper looks reallly nice, but i searched around on some of the site sponsors webpages here, but no one seems to stock or sell the E46 M3's bumper.

Do any of you bros out there know where I would be able to get a M3 bumper for a E46 sedan, and any good paint and bodyshops to reccomend at the same time?

Thanks alot for any replies in advance!
:wavey:
Cheers!

Firstly, this is an M3 rear bumper:

Is this the bumper you are refering to? If yes, then:

1) OEM M3 bumper does not fit an E46 sedan. To make an OEM M3 bumper to fit an E46 sedan, you will need to do some serious body work to widen your rear fenders. You're looking at about $3-4k and it takes about 2 weeks to do. The process involves cutting away your existing fenders and welding actual M3 fenders in it's place.

2) you will need to modify your wheel well (cut it up to accomodate the original M3 muffler with quad tips)

or

3) customise a working exhaust that does not require any cutting (weld an extra pipe leading to the right side of the bumper then branch out to 2 tips)

or

4) just hang a non-working set of tips on the right side of the bumper giving an impression of working quad exhausts

If you decide to embark on this journey, you can get the M3 bumper from Eng Soon. See the resource folder at the top of this page for details.

There are a few good spray painters around. Two of the most popular are Yew Lip and Sin Wee Chuan. Again, see resource folder for details.

Most people just slap on an Mtech bumper or an aftermarket tuner addon (likle ACS or Hamman or Breyton). Much easier to do than an M3 conversion. But if you do it, please post pics! I believe you will be ONLY ONE in Singapore!

Re: M3 Bodykit for E46?

I saw the Racecraft car when I visited their shop at Sunway Parade. There are quite a few advertisements in the Malaysian Hypertune magazine of workshops/vendors that offer this conversion package and at fairly affordable prices too (few thousand Ringgit), but I don't know how good the quality of their bodykits are. The Racecraft widebody car looks good.

But honestly, I don't like the idea of cutting the fenders or any part of a car's body and welding on another part to it. Won't this compromise the strength of the structure of the car?

Dj,most of the malaysia workshop/vendor use fiberglass/abs...heard from the malaysia guys that redzone quality is lousy..motorsport division/shedden ride is custom by a bodykit shop at sunway using fiberglass too..you also can widen(knock) the original fenders to m3 fenders width without cutting it.. they will apply somethings inside the fender arch to strengthen the structure of the fenders...so the strength of the structure of the car is still the same...maybe its even harder than oem...

Ps: shedden/motorsport divsion has ready stock for m3 front bumper/m3 sideskirt/m3 rear bumper with diffuser for normal coupe and sedan...

hope this info helps

Re: M3 Bodykit for E46?

looks like an interesting conversion but would it cause any issues when sending the car for inspections?

CBS would you know how much would it cost to do the CSL type boot lid?

Confirm fail LTA inspection.

You can buy a ready made sedan CSL bootlid. No need to do what KingRichard did. Fibreglass costs around $850 and carbon fibre costs around $1k. Painting and installation should cost you another $300+...

Re: M3 Bodykit for E46?

wow, the wide body conversion looks... massive.

haha its a consideration but its a very pricey option, i was thinking of capping my budget at maybe 4-5k for a new set of bumpers.

I looked around a little more, and what about replica M3 bumpers?
something along the lines of this link here - M3 Replica Bumper for BMW E46 Coupe/Sedan - Add on front lips available

From what I gather on their website, the replica bumper would fit the normal sedan just fine.

What do you guys think?

Re: M3 Bodykit for E46?

I would think that just go for the M-tech 2 kits.. Got original fittings should be better i think
