From US M3forum
HorsepowerFreaks released a turbo kit for E46M3 :
Stage 1 with stock internals - 450rwhp -> US$9,5k
Stage 2 stock compression ratio dropped with either a head gasket or pistons - 550rwhp
Stage 3 - 700rwhp
"Our HorsepowerFreaks turbo kits for the E46 M3 will be released to the general public in about a month. Closely following that will be our non-M3 turbo kits for the E46 as well as our E90 turbo kits. All of these kits utilizes Garrett GT32 internally gated turbos with larger 35mm housings. The turbo in our "Stage One" kit will flow enough to make 450whp although the overall power level will be dictated by boost and tuning. We also offer a modified GT32 that will flow enough to make 550rwhp as long as the stock compression ratio is dropped with either a head gasket or pistons.
All of these kits were designed around the following constraints:
1) Absolutely stock-like driveability
2) No check engine lights
3) Completely bolt up (no cutting or welding)
4) Must pass emissions testing
5) Reliable and Safe
Technik is doing the tune on the factory ECU. The software will be shipped on a CD that can be uploaded with a provided cable that plugs directly into the OBD port. Here's a quick video I took right before we shipped it to Technik."
"Here's a picture from underneath. It's quite a tight fit under there. We're looking into building a stage 3 kit that will make upwards of 700+rwhp with a larger turbo, but the Stage 1 and Stage 2 kits will utilize the same turbo. This turbo (a GT32 with 35 housings) in it's current configuration is good to 450rwhp. We can do a simple wheel swap to get 500-550rwhp out of the turbo. We chose the turbo for several reasons, but the spool characteristics fit the M3 very well. Lag is mimized while top end power is maximized.
Yes, the stage one kit will run on stock internals.
The kit comes with a lifetime warranty.
The Stage One kit will run US$9500 w/cat, US$9150 w/downpipe. I may do a lower price if someone wants to put together a group buy. Installation takes approximately 15 hours (one long day or two short ones). We have two installers on the West Cost (Technik and Pacific Motorsports). Otherwise you can install it yourself or take it to your local shop.
